No more attribute enhancers

I think we should get rid of the attribute enhancing effects of all implants ( no more +1 to +5 and the like, but still keep the slave sets and the like ).

In place of this, just give us all a 20 point base per attribute, in stead of a 17 point base, while keeping the redistributable points the same ( effectively giving us +3, just not with implants ).

Why?
Well, i have been flying around eve with +5 implants for over a year and because of them, heavily avoided any form of PvP ( i didn't wanna lose them ).
However, my luck ran out about 2 weeks ago and actually, i was kinda relieved ( no more fear of losing them ).

Now i am starting to go into and really enjoying PvP.

I think getting rid of the attribute enhancers, will help a lot more people to get into PvP, it will at least lower the "fear" factor.

Tell me what you think.

Cheers,
Mark

Or just get an empty Jump Clone and use that one for PvP?

If Chribba told you not to trust him, would you?

See, the problem with that is, you need to train a skill for that and at the same time, it assumes you know this is a possibility.

Also, i do have jump-clones, but jumping out of +5s for 24 hours or more, is not ideal. ( that's 450 sp per hour and therefore at least 10800 SP total, provided you will be online at the time the 24h have passed ).

Doing it this way, it will also be equal for everyone and only remapping correctly will give you the edge.

Jump clone with a pair of +2 or +3 implants for current attribute remap or even a single +3 implant for the primary attribute your skill training is currently using.

Also prerequisites for the jump clone skills are (wait for it..) non existent and it's a rank 1 skill so there really is no excuse for not training it.

The 24 hour cycle time is an issue though. There have been several requests for another skill to lower that down but I haven't seen any dev response on those threads.

EDIT: This is probably the latest incarnation of such a thread: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=241645

You have a choice, risk your implants (or rather the cost of replacing them) and learn skills faster or learn slower and risk less.

I can't see any reason to change this.

Personally, I risk less at the cost of learning slower unless I'm in high sec and pretty sure I'm not going to bet popped. That's the choice I've made, sounds like you've made yours. It's just another of the decisions you have to make in the game.

If you measure the fun of playing eve in skillpoints / hour you´re doing it wrong (imo).
Attribute enhancers are a (needed) ISK think.

I would´nt pvp in +5s aswell, but a few +3s is not that bad.

No, because the very thing that makes Eve great is that everything has consequences. The path you are heading down is the same path most MMO's take in that PvP has zero consequences. It starts with removing Attribute Imps, then moves to re-introducing 100% ship Insurance, then someone suggests Module/Rig 100% insurance, etc. PvP SHOULD have consequences, even if that's undocking your ship in a 1.0 while you aren't war dec'd by anyone and you get suicided by 100 throw away ships.

EDIT: When I PvP on my 2nd account (actual PvP toon) I almost always use a full set of +3's and +3% Hardwirings. They're reasonably cheap and give me an edge.

this....

Extra days/weeks/months riding out boosted sp trains does not help you for pvp. Its learned by doing. many aspsects of it are not tied to any skill trained in game. I have seen several year carebears come out to 0.0 uber sp....and there was people like me who went to 0.0 in a month from starting eve showing them how things work just 6 months later into the game. Some converted bears were cool, they knew that they did not know and listened to any and all help they could get no sp-ego getting in the way. Others were asshats....fine jackass I am glad you made billions bearing for years, the way you fly you will be burning up ships like its crazy lol.

A good noght of pvp should have you have not even caring about lost sp. I had meatgrinder nights I was losing ships and pods like crazy to the point I stopped putting in +3's. I had a blast those nights, learned alot, lost sp not even on the concern radar.

If a player is using this as excuse to not pvp, if ccp did this they would find another one basically.

I wonder how many ways there are to tell the op to go f*** himself without getting banned? For low sp pilots like me, those are my closest ways of having gear of a similar proficiency to complete with other players without waiting as long.
