As of 10:15 UTC today, Tranquility is back on line after an unexpected overnight downtime.

Our engineers have worked overnight to resolve the cause of the downtime, and we are currently monitoring the cluster to ensure that the issues which caused the situation are fully resolved.

We apologize for any inconvenience that this extended downtime has caused.

You can read more about what caused the problem in a statement from our Chief Operating Officer here.

why would you do daily downtime ~50 minutes after you just go the server up?

While I commend CCP on handling the blackout, I'm still having a problem logging in. Get to character pick and niether of my toons are shwoing, and one is completely gone as a choice. The number of players has gone from 2k to over 12k (now 14k), so hopefully this will clear up after normal DT.

No need to appologize. I'm really really sorry that you suffered this horrible attack. I'm sorry you missed your Sunday off - it was a nice day in north scotland so I assume it might've been nice in Iceland too. You are amazing - I can't even - people who would do this.

Hopefully the people responsible will get what's comming to them. Thanks for the Twitter and Facebook updates.

I'm truely sorry you had to deal with this. Esspecially nasty as you've got your/our new expansion just about to come out with a "recruitment" drive underway for new players and the Dust 514 thing going on.

I really hope this doesn't hurt your plans. We shouldn't let it.

Epic stuff - laters!

a valid question was raised but topic was locked and linked to an already locked topic to continue discussion but ill ask here, is the new launcher more susceptible to DDoS attacks?

Will this DDoS and related outage influence Odyssey release schedule? Can we still expect it tomorrow?

edit: also props to all engineers working through the night to resolve issues and CCP in general for communicating as they did.

Yes Thank you. I am grateful to be getting back online while I still can. Hope Tuesday goes smoothly. Would hate to be stuck in the real world for another 24 hours as real people may have to die. Blood For Oden!!

If anything "Good" can come of this -

EVE Online has had Massive exposure on the gaming websites and media outlets over this. All very sympathetic - All very Pro-CCP and Pro our community.

Maybe a silver lining in this cloud for you guys. i hope - it give us media visability!

Thanks soo much.

@big red seven

look into your CCP/Bin folder and run the exe Exefile

it will get you going if your launcher is in a twist

That makes no sense at all. DDoS means Distributed Denial of Service. Basically you focus a lot of requests at a service, enough to make it panic and unable to answer thus preventing people to access said service (here the game). The launcher is a simple launcher, you can't 'attack' it.
