It does not matter how many bullet points there are in the list as they are all just tweaks still and not an expansion. They equate to a patch but not an expansion.

CCP Falcon it is a shame you did not comment on the OPs valid argument that development in this game is very very very slow and perhaps it is about time to stop listening to the Jita Trolls and release some real game expansions like space STATION exploration.

Everyone seems to just put up with the terminally slow pace of progress and some people actively promote it. If it continues like this then the next space MMO that has any depth to it ... Star (cough) Citizen (cough) .... will frankly wipe this game and its 50,000 players off the gaming map.

Time for some real expansions. Time to realise the original goal of Eve. Time to open that freeking station door!!!

When you go back to WOW, can I have your stuff?

Pretty sure the "original goal of Eve" is about as far from WiS as you can get.

Not a good thing or a bad thing, but CCP is putting most of the money and effort into other projects. You want WiS, I give you DUST 514 and whatever the heck the vampire game is called (which I sure hope works out better for CCP than Secret World did for Funcom).

What I would like is a game that does spaceships the way Eve does and ground/station content the way SW:TOR did (does, I guess its still around). But alas, apparently we can't have that.

Star Citizen might be what it takes to get Eve more focused. I'm an early backer of it. But also every time I read something from the SC team it screams themepark/carebear to me so I hope I'm wrong. But SC also doesn't seem like its going to have much/any personal content -- just spaceships. I love spaceships -- especially exploding mining barges -- but there is nothing wrong with wanting to walk around a bit as an actual person. Before you discount all that as space barbies you might want to look at all the hard work people put into their profile pictures. Some of you guys actually used isk and even real money to buy goggles and monocles. That goon guy who only shows the top of his head is about the only one I would accept as a legitimate, "I don't want any sort of avatar in my spaceship game" player.

For those of you who sit in station all day scamming (and Erotica 1 who is legit), I bet you would love to sit, avatar like, across the table from someone while you took everything they had.

Odyssey isn't an 'expansion'. Its a huge patch of existing things. Things that need to be fixed. But hardly an expansion.

No, you're paying for the privilege of using CCP's servers to play the game. CCP is not under any contractual obligation to deliver expansions to you because you pay your subscription fees, and there are no fees for expansions. You don't really even have to have ever paid a subscription fee to receive the expansion, since you'd still get them if you were on your 14 day trial for example.

Of course we pay for the expansions. You think CCP makes them for free? You really need to think about the whole product concept.

EVE needs new content to bring new players. Tweaks are good for existing players and are very necessary but won't excite people who aren't already playing.

Come on, have you not been here for the Jita riots? We do not want Avatar exploration, we dont want to run around on foot hopping nimbly bimbly from platform to platform. What we want is spaceships, that is why we are playing this game and CCP is providing plenty of changes to exiting Battlehships and Skills in order to make access and use of said spaceships different for a while after the release of Odessey. Plus its a free freaking expansion, say thank you to CCP that you dont have to pay 30 bucks to play a race of space pandas.

You (CCP) have tweaked the scanning system and changed the way it works slightly and are selling this as an expansion.

Does anyone else feel the same way as me after each supposed expansion - utterly dejected and depressed with the progress this game is making. When are CCP going to actually move the game on a bit ie open that station cabin door for our avatar.

There was a brilliant post about a prototype exploration game made in Unity engine that CCP had been protyping. You actually got out of your ship and explored the site, other players could come and hunt you. It was FPS love in space. Where is that? We get a few changes to exploration and call it an expansion.

Oh and you add some new system travel animation....

Man this is the only game that is worth playing at the moment but you guys really need to grow a pair and release something more than tweaks.

Please hurry the **** up CCP.

There might not be a contractual obligation, but there are several spots on eveonline.com (CCPs main advertisement for their game) where they state that Eve will be constantly updated. "EVE is regularly updated, enhanced and expanded with new content. EVE expansions will always be FREE. " (taken from eveonline.com/universe) When they use this kind of tag line to attract new players they are making an obligation to the player base to continue updating the game. Furthermore, this obligation is part of of what we are paying for with our monthly subscription, along with the right to use their servers. If we are paying for the growth of the game, then we are paying for expansions.

As to your argument that a 14 day trial account will get these expansions for free, a trial account doesn't have access to a good number of these changes/additions (can't fly BC or BS on trial, most of wealth redistribution doesn't affect a trial account, etc.) so they need to subscribe to get full access to the expansion.

Anyway, that's how I see it.

I suppose these threads pop up when people can't have enough EVE :)
Including me.

Plenty of stuff has been prototyped that we (or atleast I) do not know if CCP has any plans for. Will CCP bring any clarity to this?
As for this expansion i'm quite content with the content :)

In the early 1800s, the Spanish king Ferdinand VII (one of the worst kings to ever walk the face of Earth in any country) was worried that a anti-French militia was still active. He ordered to have it dismissed, and some time later he was visiting a new royalist militia and noticd that many of the militia men were known faces fromt he old militia. Unimpressed by this, he said "What do we have here? Those are the same dogs, with a different collar". Since then, the idiom was adopted in other languages, and means the disappointment caused by how an apparent change it's just cosmetic.

Bulletpointing 1,000 collars won't make the old dogs of EVE look any younger.

That's not bad when you're essentially re-selling the game to people who already had bought it in the last 10 years, but it's not exactly exciting to those who didn't bought it for the same period.

And that includes many people who still are playing the game despite of your efforts to mess with their interests, rather than because of the unexistant efforts to please those same interests...

CCP are under the obligation to fix their game, they just call them expansions.

As for people saying we complained about big features and now they just tweak stuff and we still complain. The issue is we wanted CCP to stop ignoring the little things. now they are ignoring the big things to fix little things.

Half this patch looks like it will be GUI changes........something we can all get excited about.

Admittedly this one is better than the last 3 or 4, but pathetic small expansion is still that however CCP try make it into a million dot points.

Nope. I played Eve back in early Beta and the discussion was that the game would follow the development of PC hardware and when it was technical;y possible to add in walking on planets and getting out your ship more then that is where it would expand into.

We are stagnated by just being in space STILL 10 YEARS LATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In my opinion the OP has itright

Have you ever heard of a copy called Bullfrog? and a developer called Peter Molyneux?

If not, this explains why you are confusing 10 year old brainstorming and conjecture sessions with reality.

They move at a glacial pace. One of the highlights of Odyssey is the new jumpgate animation - which everyone will turn off after a month - that was described at Fanfest by a dev as inducing "nerd boner". Nerd boner. Something I never want to experience.

Anyway, the majority of CCP's developers have been working on not-EVE projects for at least :18months:. Part of me wants Dust to crash and burn inside of 6 months so they can re-focus on EVE. The other part thinks that if Dust fails then CCP (and EVE) gets dragged down the tubes with it.

Enjoy the summer for what it's worth Big smile

Got love people that cry about lack of "content" on sandbox mmo-rpg games, they really think they are playing some themepark mmo-rpg, it's really funny lol

In this type of games, players are the content, what EvE Online needs is constant iteration on existing systems, the last 3 expansions were amayzing.

Ok so why even bother having a game at all then? Lets just play in the virtual sand box....what an ******* comment Vaju.

By adding more sand into the sandbox ie expanding the game can only be a good thing.

Again, if you don't like it, go play a themepark mmo-rpg, you will get alot of "content" in that type of kindergarten games.

In the meanwhile, CCP is on fire with 4 amayzing expansions in a row. EvE Online is in its best shape ever.

This is the best post on this topic so far. Thanks for existing Slutvana :)

I can not actually see why anyone would argue with my original statement that this game needs to have proper development added to it soon, some proper expansions.

Obviously some people in CCP agree. Look at fan fest. There was a twitch based combat simulator using the Oculus Rift. Look at the Unity Engine prototype they developed with Avatars exploring deserted space stations. Look at all the You Tube footage of what Incarna might have been.

We seem to have a vocal minority that are running the show and stopping even discussion about "opening the door" (metaphorical meaning Avatar development). CCP have listened to this for 2 years now and produced 4 patches adding nothing new to the game apart from some tweaks to game play. Good tweaks but tweaks all the same.

But who exactly is this vocal minority? They slang thing like space barbies and wow in space and **** like that. Can they honestly say the as the post above commented that they would not like to see a physical representation of themselves sat discussing an idea in a bar in a station? Can someone explain how that can possibly a negative? No you can not.

Yes Dust was made and that is good but it is not a replacement for expanding Eve into Avatar stuff which I fear CCP has been pushed into leaving Eve as a space only game.

My plea is to the developers to please let us know if you have any plans at all (near term) to start really expanding the game or is it all just game play patches from now on.

For the sake of our sanity please tell us if the door is ever going to open!!!

What you have just said does not even address my reply. How can me wanting more to the sandbox, more sand for players to do their own things (ie the opposite of theme park) lead to me possibly wanting to play a themepark game???!!

Get a brain Vaju or do not "argue" in these forums. If you are happy with the 4 patches in a row then good for you. I am happy as well but I want to encourage the team to make more drastic and better additions to the game.
