Was really excited when I say the Tessellation Video! When can we expect to see it on Tranquility?

It won't be any time soon. I'd assume years rather than months.

That video is from FanFest 2012, there was a similar stunning video for ship damage & explosions at this years one. I felt sorry for the art team who were clearly passionate about creating fantastic new procedural FX etc but are being held back by factors outside their control.

There won't be any progress on this until such time as a DX11 client is developed, and it doesn't seem like there are the resources to dedicate to it given that CCP will want to support their existing client base multiboxing and using ancient laptops, etc.

You can blame all the people still running EVE on laptops made last century.

I never blame people that pay for the game :) Can't be enough of them.

Rather I would like a light version client for them like Lotro (has special hig res client)

Saying that......

I could imagine a non graphic or very very light client. I have (sorry) also a laptop running eve.
Why? I want trading eyes in certain systems. That client doesnt leave the station....just watching and ready to make the kill....well the good buy :)

I can imagine more people would like an ultrathin client that can't travel but can interact in the game. Maybe an extension of eve-gate to be able to handle market orders and see market details, jobs and science projects, giving money and refine?
But can't leave station and can't be started if toon is in space??

What you all are missing here is that according to what the World of Darkness team has said about technology-sharing with EVE at Fanfest 2013, it sounds very much as though DX11 support has quite possibly been built into the client already. All they have to do is flip the switch.

The problem with flipping the switch, if this is indeed the case, is that all of our textures and such are... well.. they suck. When you turn off the DX9 lights and open the convertible top to let the DX11 sunlight in, everything's going to look cheap and trashy and worse than it really is.

Enter the V3 All The Things project. Every single art asset in the game is being given a fresh new V3 skin (and in some cases remodeled entirely) in preparation for the new lighting system they want to create and also in preparation for flipping that mysterious DX11 switch. Once that switch is flipped, Tessellation becomes a very very coming-soon possibility.

It will also force people to stop trying to play EVE on potatoes instead of computers.

Tesselation isn't a pipe dream. It's not in the Five Year Vision. Unfortunately it's not in the One Year Plan either. I'd say it's pretty solidly on the One Year Roadmap, though. Personally, I'd say "Expect it in the next two years" but that's just an estimate and should be regarded as such.

If you're curious, my information is readily available in devblogs and livestreams and fanfest streams.

Nope, cause it would be like any other graphics processing feature -you could simpy turn it off...
