What if it had all started today?

EVE beeing 10 years old got me to thinking about how much it's changed over the years. I the year since Iv played it a great deal has changed so I can only imagen how its diffrent from when it started.

So that made me wonder, what if it all started over but with the same game mechanics as we have today? Same buffs and nerfs, same ships and their stats, but no economy, no soverignty, no alliances or coilitions. How would the map look? What wars would be fought, what new alliances formed?

An interesting thought experiment.

*Edit* I should clarify, this is just a what if forum game. I know this will never happen nor am I asking for it.

Well we wouldn't have any remove T2 bpo theads. I'm not sure how the forums would cope with that.

The map would look dark. Because there would be no sov.

I think it would be interesting to see. This will never happen, but what if CCP started a fresh server? Would any current players switch to that server and basically start over? I think I might. Would all the people that don't play the game because they feel they are behind no matter what they do start playing?

I think it would be better.

We wouldn't have to worry about the little bees since they'd all still be in Second Life.

Probably not for long. If today is day 1, and the same people today are playing, I imagine the map would be quite colorful in no time.

After all the battles that we've been seeing of late, next week could end up seeing color movement or a few drunk diplos in the corner of a pub after a long night.

My understanding is that titans and other capitals have been nerfed from their original form, Im wondering how much of todays sov have been clamed and held since before then. And would those people be able to clame and hold it again with todays rules?

Remove hisec and local and anyone who isnt in an alliance at once.

It's possible that it would take longer, but I think that human nature being what it is, it would still be a driving force to conquer regions and hold them as their own. Maybe not on as big a scale as we saw in the past (or looking at the map), but I think that our desire to be the best and to have things that are ours and under our control will still drive us to invade, battle, conquer and defend.

But yeah nothing would change.

Those not in an exciting alliance would be stuck in hisec being boring as usual.

Whoever was the first to anchor TCUs would have a good few months of sov invulnerability since there wouldn't be the pilots with the SP to use dreads or high DPS guns to enable effective structure grinds.

It depends a lot on if it launched as a new game that no one knew about or if it was just a fresh server. A fresh server you would see a lot of alts training for specific goals to get land claimed as soon as possible. It would be a long time before we started seeing too many t2 items and they would all be really expensive because it takes a while to get to harvesting any ice, let alone enough to put up a lot of POSs and you need POSs before you can get the materials to make anything advanced. It would be a mad dash and a crazy amount of fighting for a while but it would grind to a slow down quickly because no one has the pimped out ships to grind Incursions and level 4 missions.

What ever happened to the Asian server? I know they started to set one up for a while and it broke some log-on records but it was still in beta and I left soon after that.

I thought they didnt have this game in Asia for the same reason they dont have DUST 514 on Xbox. China and Microsoft want exclusive servers.

If they had a 'do over' and DID NOT change some of the more messed up ship mechanics *cough*supercaps*cough*, then CCP would be mentally impaired
