6 years playing and never been scammed.

BUT...........

Back in my manufacturing days when i was building Charons i bought 2x ME 5 PE 3 Blueprints for 2B each. When i logged on the next day to accept them, he put the purchase price as 2 Million not 2 Billion.

Naturally, i accepted the contracts. I laughed ad he raged.

Throughout all my piracy, nullsec and hi-sec war-deccing tears.......those were without a doubt the MOST epic. I think i still have the barrel i harvested them in somewhere.

You all might not believe this but there was this one time this guy had come to the house and knew about how much I hates squirrels gettin into the bird feeders. Well he offered me this feed house he had that was 100% squirrel proof and all he needed was the money. So I didnt mind payin a little bit up front for a contraption that worked as he said. Well he brought the thing over and I have go to tell you what, it worked fer about an hour until the little rodents ganged up on it and figured out how it worked.

I think squirrels have this amazing way to figure out how in invade things and get food. This is why we need a sure fire way of gettin rid of the furry rats! They even get into peoples homes! I seen it I tell you! Someone I know were thinkin they had someone breakin into their homes only to find out it were a family of squirrels livin in their roof and commin down from time to time to get some of their food.

My Grandson Billy came by earlier! He came with his class to sing for all the residents here. Although I didnt enjoy the songs at all, I did however enjoy seein the boy. We get cookies for dinner every day and Im not a big cookie eater, never have been. You see when I was younger we didnt have a lot of money and cookies were one of those things we got as a special treat. But now a days people can just go to the store and get cookies whenever they want and I think thats not a very good thing. People seem to eat a lot of bad things bad for em now.

Jim from down the hall always is eatin out of the vending machine. I tried to tell him that he should watch it cause he isnt helpin his health at all. But just like the staff around here, he just tells me to worry about myself and not him. Oh well...

Never been scammed, but once got handed 3.5 Billion Isk for nothing by a dumb market scammer who got buying and selling confused and bought my autocannon skillbook for 3.5Bn instead of listing his own skillbook at the scam price Lol

Only one time.

A friend was producing for me capitals parts for a moros in high sec,not far from Jita. But it took ages, and i decided to buy cash a shinny moros, so two weeks later i had for 2B of capital parts to sell.

I sold 1b with the market and eventually get bored to sit in 4-4. So i made an offer on the local chat ( worst idea ever).
A guy answered me, bought me for 200M of capital parts, and offered me 2 plexes in direct trade for the rest of it.

Ofc he tries to scam me, the plexes were only crates renamed. I start to taunt him, telling him i'm not such a newbie.
He replies that plexes are in crates, and i've got to show info them + enter to see what's in it.

it's 2am, i'm full of beer, this sounds like music to me.

right clic+ enter.

Oh well ****, i just lost 800M,that was obvious.

Leave jita and never return. I still have the crates in my cargohold.

I have been scammed so far 3 times in eve.

1st when i was new and someone renamed a atron taranis and sold to me for 15m

2nd from a friend who i trusted with 13b isk, i was more upset I lose a 2 years time friend then the isk tbh.

3rd was actually a few days ago from the manufacture kasha guy i was too quick to click and bought a punisher for 33m instead of a prophecy. me and my friend laughed bout it.

Eve is a game, and given my profession, and what I do i need to not only dish it out but take it well also.

I've never unintentionally got scammed.
All the information is present and clear whether it be a contract or market item so as long as you read things, you'll be safe. If you don't read it, then you get what you deserve.

When I said "unintentionally" I mean that shuttles go for 5Mill a pop in some null sec stations so is it a scam or just supply and demand? Probably the latter.

Not yet, I am however confident that I will be scammed soon by one of my fellow colleagues. If not I'll be deeply dissapointed.

ISK doubler, lol. Tried to outplay him and lost like 1.2billion.

Goon recruiting scam failed because of my greediness and scammer stupidity (you'd better adjust your tactics to current victim instead of using rule "500 millions for each" and lose those who can not or doesn't want to pay this amount)
Market scams always too obvious to fall
Direct trading scams - i've read about them on forums before i found this in game

Other scams... Can't recall

Way back in 2008 there was a man who said he was leaving for null sec. And oh, what's this? He's selling off some of his ships that he can't move at a bargain price! Hurray!

Long story short he traded a raven to me named "Raven Navy Issue" and I didn't understand trade mechanics well enough to understand that you could do that. I bought a raven for well over the standard price for a Raven. Dat ******. It made me write an angry peition to CCP demanding they enforce scamming laws. lol. Ever since then I've been a bit easier when it comes to scammers and scamming. It's just a game.

Happend to me as well, but with a "Navy Domi".
The sad part is I checked everything and saw that the Info said Domi instead of Navy Domi.
But then again I never traded through trade window before.
I also thought of reverse scamming him by entering 200k instead of 200M.
However I'm nice and would probably be the worst scammer ever.

I contacted him afterwards when it was obvious it was a scam once I got the Domi and he said his API shows different and asked me to send back the Domi so he could double check it.

I didn't fell for this at least...

So after all it was a 130M lesson I learned.

How about being falsely accused of scamming?

A couple of days ago I received an Eve Mail message from someone who obviously thinks that.

Hello DeMichael,

or should I rather say Liliana Rahl? Anyway, you've scammed me once, but I won't let you trick me twice. You did a good job last time and I failed (cudos for you, and a facepalm for me), but your test-alts won't harm me further. And for the sake of god, if someone wants me dead for less than 100 mil, you are way to cheap :D Consider that next time you use one of your alts to make an "offer" ;)

regards,

-

The person who sent me this mail has me blocked.

I know for a fact that Liliana Rahl is a character owned by the same person who also owns XXSketchxx and Emperor Salazar. I've had plenty of forum wars with the owner of those characters, especially with the character Emperor Salazar. I have those characters blocked due to getting mail and convo requests in-game.

I am definitely NOT an alt of the owner of those characters which is something I know other players can verify.

What I find strange is this person seems to have done some research due to mentioning Test alts but for the life of me I can't understand how I got included in with them.

I guess the scam here is having other players believe my character is owned by the same player who owns those other characters. Does that make sense?

Let's be honest. Most / if not all of us have fallen for the great contract scam. (the one where someone put up hundreds of contracts at the same time and because contracts used to be listed by time and not isk, you could make it sell for whatever you want almost)

Aside from that, if you go by the rule "If it's too good to be true..." then you can't go wrong. That and never rushing into any buys.
