Its also a 4 sentry droneboat with 1 or 2 extra lows (depending on preference) than an ishtar and much better fitting resources and an active tank bonus. I could see why you wouldn't want to use one in group pve, but its perfectly fine solo.

What Tauranon said. It's a modular ship with an excellent sentry PVE configuration turning it into an exploration ship on par with Ishtar and Tengu. This is also not rocket science nor a secret, people use Proteuses in sites like the Maze.
