Conducting a study of the effects of social media, needing respondents for focusgroup interview

Greetings, i´m a sociology student who´s currently writing an essay regarding the effects of social media and how the techonlogical progress affect us.

I´m looking for respondents to a focusgroup interview this evening or tommorow evening around 8pm cet. The interview is expected to last around an hour. It will be conducted over voip and will be recorded. Standard ethics of interview will be applied, meaning your names will be changed to a fictional name. You should prefferably be a student between 19-26 years old, male or female doesn´t matter.

Aye, but much of these things is about learning how to collect the data to understand how its done in larger studies.

I'd love to help a fellow student, but I don't use any social media at all, I just text people Oops

Whilst I do use social media, and have probably some fantastic input, I'm constrained by that same input, making me likely unavailable for the interview; To wit, I'm managing the enourmous circle of contacts in dealing with my sister's death. I'm the central organizer of information flow in her extremely extensive Border Collie world, and have been going non-stop for five days now collecting, routing, and archiving information and statements of grief and support.

Plus I'm physical backup for the family processes that have been disrupted by my mother and another sister flying to Alaska to handle the closure of the estate.

Oh, and I'm a bit older than your target demographic.

A few days from now, I might have some time.

Yup. I dropped FB over 2 years ago and now only do twitter, responding to favorite authors and actors and such. That's enough for me, really.

I never got the whole Social Media "revolution" seemed to me to just be an adaptation of RSS feeds that went mainstream in a slick UI and suddenly it was everywhere....
Am I the only person that still uses RSS feeds?... Oops

Depends on your needs. For the Sheep Dog Trials community, FB suits admirably. and dealing with my sister's death, it's been a godsend - the BC FB community caught fire when the word went out - And we've had input and support from around the world, literally. Information, stories, anecdotes, and friends have come boiling out of the woodwork, and social media has accelerated the process to a degree I find astonishing - Not something easy to do to me, I assure you.

Extra willing hands to help clear the estate, places for people to crash out, high-quality re-homes for her animals, details required for offical paperwork; all that and more have been sorted by means of social media.

Hmm, interesting discussion you got going here, just to add a few more thoughts, how do you think that the technological advancements has affected our ways of communication, and what do you percieve the negative and positive effects of social media being.

Doesn´t matter if you´re a little above the aged demographic really, the discussion you got going is interesting so far.

Well, I'll tell you - Without social media, we'd be still trying to get information for closing out my sister's estate, probably there would be several cousins who didn't yet know, and my mother & sister (different one) would've spent FAR more money getting to my sister's place and finding helping hands to deal with the stuff that needed to be moved, boxed, thrown away, or simply burnt.

Hell, my sister's dogs already had new, breeder-approved homes lined up for them before any family could arrive to start sorting things out.

Plus we learned to be on the lookout for two completed, un-published books we didn't know about.



But social media is an amplifier. It can amplify the bad along with the good. Imagine a bully or conspiracy theorist or quack. Equipped with a megaphone. With an army of sycophants. Each also equipped with a megaphone.
