Love the themed logins as well. Like mentioned above, hopefully they implement something like themed logins for character selection screens. Will be a shame for no Odyssey theme. :-(

Yeah perhaps in the future we will get something nice, but until then i can not see a single reason to remove the login screen.
Make it better? Sure! But why take away something that so many players enjoy?

It is my hope that we still will get a new theme for odyssey.

Actually im fine with most changes CCP are doing, i think they're doing the right things!
But to remove something that alot of players enjoy and just leave an empty black window in its place.. to remove content and not replace it with anything at all.. that seems unnecessary.

Yes, this is possible to do right now. But i doubt many players know about it.
What i really wonder is whether or not CCP will keep making new awesome login screens.

Odyssey for example. Will i get a new login screen or will i just end up with the retribution screen when i run the exefile?
Or will they remove the exefile way alltogether and make the launcher the only option?

I don't usually post on forums, but this is worth it. EvE login screens are important part of the game, the first experience we get when we launch the game for the first time is the login screen, look at this:

It just gives you something like a punch into face when you launch the game for the first time and you see that ship in Incarna, you don't know what it is but you want it so much when you hear the music picking up right before the ship starts firing. Jesus, how could you get the idea to remove login screens?

Is this on the Test Server? I just logged in with the usual log-in screen 45 minutes ago without issue, but maybe I'm missing something. I dislike the Launcher as well and just use the Game's Exe shortcut if that makes a difference.

Yeah, as stated, i know that you can use the exefile to reach the old login screen, but only a very small fraction of the player base knows about this trick!

This thread is more of a question to ccp: Will you keep on making new login screens and music for the coming expansions or will you just forget the whole thing now that you make people login from the launcher?

Although a few days ago they changed the name of it to "Expansion theme music" instead of "Login screen music".
Is this another sign that they forsake the login screen?

How will people get to hear the awesome new odyssey theme when they login from launcher?

And now that odyssey is installed i see what they've done.

No more unique login screens, themed to each new expansion.

Instead we get a static, unmoving login screen, that just says "Eve online"

So it doesnt matter if you use the exefile or not, the awesome login screens of each expansion will be distant memory.
