  • Average FPS - Zoomed in (brackets / no brackets): 1.5 / 1.5
  • Memory usage of the client (if checked): NA
  • Was client performance better or worse compared to your TQ experience with the same settings and fleet size? (1=way worse, 5=same, 10=OMG this is awesome): This was bad for a mass test. 2
  • Did you experience any disconnects or crashes? Yes. Two. My computer spontaneously rebooted. Then it locked up.
  • Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc.:

  • Changing texture level: No graphics issues, but it took a long time, 3 to 5 minutes. I missed test instructions becasue I was looking at a black screen, waiting.

POS shoot: There was so much lag I never saw the POS icon after I locked it. I did manage to shoot it.

PvP fight: The client lag was terrible. I had to wait 1 to 2 minutes for things to happen. The client never really caught up. For example, I never saw the icon of the target I was shooting or how much damage was on it, and I never got my drones to attack. I did manage to shoot the target, but that's about all. Then all of a sudden Eve voice skipped a few times and then I was looking at the log in screen for my computer. This happened about 47 minutes after the hour.

I relogged into eve. Oddly, the lag was far less when I returned. FPS was 6 rather than 2, and I could target someone, shoot them and see the damage on them. Then the FPS started dropping and again I could not get my drones to attack. Then I got blown up. I waited a bit to see if someone would pod me, but nothing happened. So I warped to a planet. On the way my client totally locked up. But the computer still worked, I could force quit. By the time I got back the third time the test was being called concluded.

Low FPS, duriing fight at Poitot, once i i zoomed out FPS was back at medum. I turned brackets off and got my usualy amount of fps which was about 60. Client performance was about the same during the fights. This was my first mass test and it was enjoyable. Some people decided to smartbomb though. I found an issue wiht the undock button that i could not undock so i had to re-log. Other then that everything went relitvly smoothly.

Did you experience any disconnects or crashes? yes - 1 crash at POS shootout

Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc.:

Hacking; was good (shame about the smart bombing titans tho*)
Pos Shootout; Terrible lag more then i've ever had. Caused my client to crash.
PvP fight: Lag in buttons and ui kept trying to open a radial meaning it took awhile to turn on my DC which hampered combat ability

* Real shame about the smartbombing titans after fleet warp to objective A. I was in a BS so i tanked it but many in frigs weren't so lucky and i feel sorry for them being unable to take part because of trolls

All in all everything went very well. Tried mutiple clients with low graphics and one with high graphics in window mode.
Had a few problems to get into fleets but when the gatefight was in progress even that worked.

Graphic changes:

Worked well.
All of my 6 clients started with max. high graphics.
Massive lagg after undocking -> as expected
Lowered graphic options window by window -> very slowly but worked ( sometimes both monitors went black and only background music and sounds indicated that system is still running but in the end it worked )

Gate graphic change on one client back to high worked quick , back to low worked quick as well ( brackets off)

Jumping worked well on all clients.

New Jump- and being podded animations look awesome.
Couldn't see much of the tower shoot, 5 clients got podded on Objective A beacon and 6th lost its ship ( thank u smartbomb kids ) and client crashed while warping to POS .
New Apoc model = win

Gatefight went better then expected. Had about 10-15 FPS per client with effects on , graphics low, brackets off, zoomed out.
Only problem was jumping in. When entering new system camara zoomes back to the ship and u have to zoom out again to get better FPS which takes some time.

Ubuntu linux 12.04 x86 PAE with custom built OSSv4 sound system and wine-1.5.30 from git with patch to fix SSL cert handling (needed to fix the launcher Error -7) No overrides but disabled d3d11. No VC runtimes installed.

Sony VAIO VPCF13Z1R laptop with the folowing specs
Core i7 Q740 CPU
GeForce GT425M GPU (310.14 driver)
8GB RAM
SSD hard drive.
FullHD display.

Got the launcher, the log server and 2 instances of client in windowed mode running.
Everything at the lowest possible settings (business as usual, the GPU is weak).

Got 3.5FPS during the figh with all brakets (didn't think about turning them off) with drops to 1.5 FPS during especially bad camera movements. Didn't zoom in voluntary. On that later.
Didn't check memory usage.
Client was performing pretty good. Can't compare to TQ, since i've got the new wine very recently specifically to deal with the new launcher. But preformance was comparable to the luminare massacre, and I was using only one client there.

Strangely enough, the client was rock-solid stable. When there was a command to change settings to low and back, I actually changed them FROM low to high (since I was at low already). I was on the gate in a middle of a huge fleet. Sure it took a lot of laptop cooler crunching, but the settings changed correctly without causing any stability issues.

The whole experience.

It was the first time I managed to make the new launcher work under wine. Not without some shenanigans, and I'm not sure which one exactly helped. I had to remove the launcher cache, use repair and manually clean the process tree from any remains of the launcher, then run the launcher, change the number of threads to 1, close it, manually clean it from processes again, run it, and it finally did work and stopped hogging a core worth of my CPU. Fix the damn race conditions.

It was also the first time I used the eve voice. It did work (on recieve. Didn't try transmit - it's 1AM here), which I didn't expect from wine.

The client was rock solid. Didn't expect it. I usually run it in wine virtual desktops, because there were stability issues reported with older wine versions and windowed mode, but today I've tried the windowed mode, and it worked like a charm (that's probably not about the client changes, but rather about the latest wine). If not for the broken CQ and shamanic dances around the launcher, I would give the current EVE a golden status on wine compatibility.

Now the complaints.

1) The new stargate jump animation. It looks cool, but have mercy on me. I run big fights zoomed out to the max to avoid my poor GPU grinding to a halt. Guess what does jumping through a gate do? It zooms in on the gate. With half a thousand ships sitting on it. Might as well crunch bitcoins with CUDA when playing EVE.

2) The new system scanner.. It's bugged all over. The sweeping animation plays indefinitely. Someone suggested turning off the scanning overview, but I already had it turned off. I turned it on, then off, and it helped... for a while. Fast forward 5 mins, and it sweeps again. Next, it has a checbox near the filter dropdown menu. Which is called something like [no label UI\infliight] or something. Dunno what it does. Oh. And the worst part. I was doing exploration in 2 windows yesterday. And the new scanner failed to scan systems sometimes. That is, I jump in with 2 characters. One gets sigs in system. The other does not (ironiclly the scanning alt was not getting the sigs). Closing and opening the scan window fixes it, But the scan button no longer works without probes, so there's no manual way to fix it besides closing the window. Also I believe it started after I jumped a gate when in system overview mode. Please consider returning the manual sweep without probes (I also wonder what happens when a new sig appears in a system you are already in).

3) My complaints about the new explo are in the other thread. Now if you excuse me, I'm falling asleep.

Did you experience any disconnects or crashes? no.
Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc.: 1. It would be nice if Singularity would automatically import my overview settings. Of course it didn't, and I didn't have time to load them.
2. Hacking part: At first I didn't realize that units that didn't have their rings rotating were already hacked. But then each active hacking target that I went to was already in use by someone else. So I didn't get to try it.
3. Once when I docked up to repair, and then returned to the fight at the gate, I set my warp to stop at 20km from the gate. I didn't stop and bounced of the gate (and was then tartgeted by several enemy ships)
4. I had trouble figuring out how to turn off the auto system scanner. Then saw the highlited scanner on the bottom. but noticed later it wasn't always highlighted .
5. I like all the new effects, including jump gates.

Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc.: Overall good. But at first I could not undock from the station, even though my toon on the other computer did not have any problems. I wa able to undock by first going to Capt. Quarters, then selecting undock.
When my ship was destroyed, I couldn't read all the small red print in time (too small). but I was able to warp away much easier than in previous tests.
I did not make it to the test system in time to participate in the hacking game.

No problem at all with 6 clients also the FPS went much down with 6 titans! Experienced very short TD effects after jumping but no crashes. FPS changed plus minus 2 while changing brackets. The high CPU usage after the jump and change of "Texture Quality" recovered within seconds to "normal".

Generally I would tell to avoid lagging, crashes, graphic issues etc. EVE-players should upgrade their hardware, max. RAM for system and graphic board and max. speed for CPU/GPU.

Was client performance better or worse compared to your TQ experience with the same settings and fleet size? 4 - The fps was better for me during the test before.
Did you experience any disconnects or crashes? no crash or disconnect.
Describe your experience, make comments, suggestions, etc.: As I am playing on a 2yr old laptop, I expect low fps. During regular play in TQ, I get around 30 fps with shader, texture and lod at high and pp, shadows and aa disabled and a cruiser zoomed to occupy a third of the height of the screen. During fleet fights in SiSi, the fps drops below 20, hovering around 12-15 when zoomed out such that the cruiser is barely visible in the center of the screen. For this test, the fps was much lower than the previous one. Could be the difference in the amount of Supercaps that were present. I thought we had more figter/bomber drones than actual player ships. Add to that the smartbombs, bubbles, pos shields, titan effects, etc., lower fps was to be expected. No real suggestions at the moment because the fleet comp and situation during the two test were different.

PS: The scanner overlay sweep animation seemed to be running even when disabled. This occurred twice. Once after a warp and once when I opened and closed star map. I will also be putting up this complaint in the scanner overlay thread.
