Hi all,

I just applied the new client update and now I cannot log in. I get to character selection, click the character, and get stuck entering station. It never freezes at the same point. Once it was before the ship spawned, another time is was after. I uninstalled and re-applied the client update and now I'm stuck at the loading bar for Entering Station.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
TC

Quick update. My second account logs in just fine. It seems to be only this one account that can't get past "Entering Station"

My client froze several times at gates today. Sometimes I do get a bit of lag on my work machine, because the gfx card isn't pure super-awesome, but never Eve hangs like that. One hang took almost a minute to go away.

The first hang was jumping from Ouelletta into Loes. The system was hung for almost a minute and then I showed up in Loes. I couldn't click on any gates or other celestials, when I finally was able to, the overview wasn't showing the item as warpable, few more seconds and it then was ok.

On that same trip, going from Agoze into Vey, my system was hung up again. I didn't even wait and just X'd out of Eve and restarted the client.

These updates are really making the latency/gfx lag WORSE... FIX the latency issues. Jesus... you're making it worse CCP. I've already stopped wearing implants because of this stupid fk'd overview issue and overall Eve client lag!

I have exactly the same problem as the OP. Get "Entering Game As" etc. then it goes black and...I'm back at the character screen. Try to enter game. Repeat ad infinitum. Other account logs in fine.

@Yegar and Shamus Sobor
This smells like a corrupt settings file for the character I therefore recommend you rename the .dat file for you character ID and then try log in to see if that doesn't help.

@Christopher West
Thank you for contacting customer support.

If you have a router with a firewall or a software firewall make sure it allows all traffic through port 26000 for both UDP and TCP protocols.
You can read through the following article to see if it has information that can help solve this problem, http://kb.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=119 You can test your connection to our server by doing the following, if you encounter problems you can send us the results.
To see whether you can get reach our servers or not, please do the following:

1) Press Windows Key + R and type 'CMD' (without the '') into the Run Window and press OK.

2) In the Command Prompt write 'telnet 87.237.38.200 26000' (without the '') and wait for the process to finish.
If the Command Prompt gives you an error and fails, you are most likely running a firewall of some sort which is blocking the traffic from your computer to our servers. However, if the window generates some scrambled letters, you are successfully contacting the servers.

If you get and error "'telnet' is not recognized as an internal or external command", you need to install the Telnet program from 'Control Panel' -> 'Programs and Features' -> 'Turn Windows features on or off' and from there select 'Telnet Client' and press ok.

Once you've done that you should be able to run the telnet command from the Command prompt.

If the Command Prompt gives you an error and fails, you are most likely running a firewall of some sort which is blocking the traffic from your computer to our servers. You will need to fix that on your end.

Also check if your anti-virus and/or firewall program has recently been updated. In some cases the update changes the functionality if allowed programs causing them not to work.

@Sniperdoc
If you haven't already try clear your cache and settings files. http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Clearing_the_cache_and_settings#In-game_.28All_platforms.29 Make sure you clear both cache AND settings.

If this does not help at all please file a petition in the Technical queue with the results of the following attached so we can investigate this further.

1. Please run the DirectX diagnostics tool: Press the Windows button + R . In the Run window type dxdiag and hit enter. When you do this, a window will pop up. up.
2. Click the "Save All Information" button that's located in its lower right corner.

Could you also run a pingplotter test to test your connection to the server. Instructions on how to run the pingplotter test can be found below.

Here are the instructions on how to run the pingplotter test.

1) Download the program from http://www.pingplotter.com/downloads/pngplt_std.exe and run the installer once you've downloaded it.
2) Once the program has been installed, run the program
3) When the program has started, in the top left corner you can find a field called 'Address to trace', in this field type: 87.237.38.200
4) At the bottom left corner change the # of time to trace to Unlimited, and the Trace Interval to 2.5 seconds.
5) Click on the 'Trace' button at the bottom left corner.
6) Now run the EVE client and login. Play normally for an hour even if you are disconnected from EVE. Simply log in again and continue.
7) If you lose connection note down the time you lost connection (please note down both your local time and the EVE Time).
8) Now save the pingplotter files by going to the menu File -> Save sample set...
9) Once the file has been saved, please send it to us by either attaching the file in your e-mail response to this petition or by uploading the file by login into http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/Petitions/MyPetitions.aspx and attaching it to the petition there.

My issue is different. My client goes to "not responding" in the task manager. I don't get kicked back to character selection.

In searching for the .dat file I found and ran the repair tool in the CCP directory. Everything is working now! Big smile

Just woke up to the same issue and ran the repair tool again for another successful fix. What's going on with my account/client?

If this is happening continuously then there are 3 possible causes for this, that I can think of right now.
1. Your computer is infected with a virus which corrupts some of the client files. Updating your anti-virus application and having it run a thorough scan of all connected drives ( network drives as well ) should solve the issue if it's the cause here.
2. Your anti-virus application has the cache and settings folders scanned frequently and can thus put them into quarantine mode from time to time, ie.e. when you are playing. This can cause corruption under some circumstances so adding those 2 folders to an exception list should solve the issue if it's the cause.
3. A bit far fetched, but ya never know. Check if your computer's clock is set in the past or the future. If it is change it to your local time zone.
