Would anybody be willing to educate me on pirate politics in the Black Rise/Placid/Essence area? I keep shooting the same people, but they seem to change corporations/alliances faster than I can keep track. I'd be interested in hearing some of the stories outside of my little FW bubble and getting to know the people I shoot a little better.

AFAIK, the players that I run across seem to be The Tuskers, Shadow Cartel, Urine Alliance, Rainbox Dash Goes Red, Casoff, Scum, Old Man Gang, Desman, and probably others I forget.

The Tuskers - Hevrice, Cool dudes. Small ships.
Shadow Cartel - Lisbatane, Aeshee. Holders of massive numbers of POCOs everywhere in low sec. Camp high sec gates a lot. run L5 missions out of Aeschee
Urine Alliance - Sujarento (Snuff) - Tech 3, Hot droppers. Feed off of Tama.
Rainbox Dash Goes Red - Rakapas, Campers of the Hikk/Pyne gate. Main FC Fuzzybutt lives in JUSTK channel but is rude and doesn't say anything.
Casoff - Solitude, From what I hear they are bored to tears - and they should be. Nobody survives the boredom of Solitude and leaves with a sound mind.
Scum - Kinakka, can hot drop if needed, Camp Onnamon gate
Old Man Gang - Heydieles, Russians, Boosters.
R.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N - see above. I think these guys farm L5 missions in Hasmijaalalalalala
Desman, (pretty dead), Russians, haven't really seen them around.
Balkan Express, Murethand, Balkans, L5 mission runners (only reason to live there)
Ninja Unicorns, Murethand, Not Russians, see above.
I Know Right - Ienekkamon, Want to join JUSTK because they are always in our public channel, small ships most of the time.
Soul Takers, OMS, Camp Villore gate.
Alpha Volley Union - Brarel, Assault frigs.
Exodus. - Vlillirier, Masters of Tier 3 BCs with annoying interceptor pilots that point pirates on gates.
Deen Wispa
Sheriff.
United Caldari Space Command.

Great thread starter. Lowsec politics is always intriguing. Here's my Intelligence and observation;

Tuskers- A very short list of Blues. They generally avoid doing fleet roams into the warzone because of how blobby it gets by the militias. Alot of their pilots like to solo.

Rainbow Dash Friends- Initially started as a really risk averse gatecamping pirate corp. I recall a friend joining them. He thought it was a corp full of active pilots but it turned out it was 4 people all with multiple alts dual boxing. All they did for the longest time was live out of a POS in Pyne and gatecamp the Pyne/Oin gate. I have noticed over the past few months that they've gotten their act together and will actually go roam and fight others now. They go from T1 cruisers to Armor BS to T2 HACs and drop the occasional Archon on militia noobs :)

Casoff- Chaotic Tranquility, formerly Caldari Militia. They eventually left Kraken alliance to form Casoff Alliance. They moved out to Solitude so they can rat and bear in peace. From what I've been told and observed, their alliance, like most alliances, died off from moving to Solitude. Nothing to kill out there.

Urine Alliance aka Snuff Box. Primarily EU TZ capable of dropping on you faster than you can say Tier 5. They are quite capable combat pilots and will fight anyone outnumbered but never outgunned. Probably the only organization capable of competing with SOTF when they lived in lowsec.

Balkan Express- EU TZ pilots. They developed a reputation amongst many of the local pirate gangs as not being capable of fighting without at least 3 falcons in their fleets at all times. I can confirm that experience a couple of times. Whether that has changed over the last few months, I don't know, since I don't see them in my TZ. They will blue up with Snuff when needed.

Shadow Cartel- They generally don't roam into Blackrise or Placid. Like Rainbow, they form all sorts of fleets and capable fighters.

SCUM- Based out of Kinakka. Like SC and Rainbow.

Ninja Unicorns- They generally stay around the Ouelletta- Heyd pipe and don't really roam beyond it. If they are roaming in a shiney gang without logi, you can best be sure they have an Archon on standby.

Soul Takers- Gatecampers in OMS

High Five. Yeah! C'est La Eve .

I was in SNUFF and flew with BALEX a bunch of times. I've fought shadow cartel quite a bit while I was in SNUFF although not recently.

Tuskers - Fought them a bunch of times in the past, only a few times recently but they are very fun to fight. They'll give you a good fight.

RDF - I'm biased, so **** that.

Urine Alliance (Snuff) - Extreme concentration of SP and isk within one corp. Secret to success IMO since being there is the organization and very good FCing. Literally an army of alts.

BALEX - Very capable pvpers, I've never seen them use falcons, but similarly to snuff they are very organized and Kram is a capable FC. They have had good success with SFIs and sacs supported by guardians.

Shadow Cartel - Lots of different fleet doctrines, very good at creating effective and creative fittings, if you ever browse their killboard and look for fleet fights you'll be sure to find a puzzling fit only to figure out later that it is quite effective. They change up their fleets often to throw other people off, they've done everything from t1 cruisers - tech 3 logi - 100mn BC fleets - brawling shield BS with shield carriers - 100mn tech 3s - enyos and so on. I'm sure they'll show up in some new doctrine in the next month.

Those are the ones I have experience with.

IKR seem to be working with some of your guys. (not all - just a select few)

I like some of the I Know RIght dudes - they don't seem to take things too seriously.

Sadly, I¨m not one of those select few. Personally I think they are equal opportunity gankers. Would just add they love to gatecamp the kehjari/Martoh gate.

Along with the pies people have mentioned above you'll often find Black Rebel Rifter Club and to a lesser extent, Black Dragon Fighting Society dudes roaming around Essence/Verge Vendor mainly solo or in pairs, mostly in frigate-sized hulls and they give ~gudfites~.

While it's commonly assumed that R.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N is a Russian alliance, and they certainly make every effort to give that impression, nothing could be further from the truth. In reality, all of the 168 members of R.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N are controlled by two people living in the US: my mother and a lady she met at the racquetball club in the early 1980s.

While I don't want to delve too far in to the inane intricacies of my family's various feuds, I'll note that R.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N began as a result of me rejecting my mother's Facebook friend request. She's also mentioned other slights, such as not bringing my kids to visit more frequently, or the time I made fun of the baby stroller like contraption she likes to wheel her cat around town in, as reasons for the continued existence of the alliance. I imagine my recent failure to call on Mother's day isn't going to help matters much.

Nevertheless, when dealing with R.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N, try to bear in mind that you're in fact dealing with a bitter, uber-multiboxing 72 year old lady who drinks chardonnay by the quarter gallon and enjoys taking her cat for long walks in a baby stroller, and adjust your strategy accordingly. Hope that helps.

I can confirm that this area is the most interesting one in whole EVE. I welcome every organized entity (not to bloby :D) to come and visit us.

BALEX, bringing piracy on a whole new level.
