Need an icon on my ship

I'm getting good at choosing what displays in the overview vs what shows up on the screen itself. What can't find is an icon for my own ship to show on the screen like it shows my drones. Hard to tell how far away I am from objects zoomed out. I'm twisting the camera to see the distance hidden behind the overview window. Not only that I have to click on the object to see distance when I just need a quick visual. Anyone know where in the overview setting I can make a bracket for my ship?

You cant. But remember that if you just click on an object or ship it will tell you how far away you are from it.
I realize you said you just wanted a quick visual, but clicking and showing the distance, or zooming in enough to roughly know were your ship is are the only ways you can really do this unless someone else has some creative ideas Smile

Yes, unfortunately nowhere. But depending on the configuration of your overview, you can see the distance of objects in space relative to your ship in the overview itself. Your zoom level does not effect that.

There is a button on the left side of the HUD called Tactical Overlay. It may give you what you want although not on the overview.

You can hold the alt key so that brackets will appear on your ship.

The coloured brackets are:

People in your corp.
People in your fleet.
People you are at war with.
People you are ....

So it's always other people related to you that have brackets around them.
