Clan Watch supporting the Eve Community.

The goal of Clan Watch is to develop a rating system that will allow players to more easily identify corporations (guilds, clans) that will best fit the player. Using a demographic survey to collect key information; clans/squadrons/corporations register in our system and are allowed to register their organization which will enable members to rate their experience with those organizations (all comments are moderated by Clan Watch Staff and checked for relevancy as well as tact).

· Users can upload photos, videos, documents and audio/music in listings and reviews
· Detailed multi-criteria ratings, user and editor reviews
· Favorites and MyListings management
· Advanced search capability
· Comparison functionality
· Facebook and Twitter integration
· Advanced templating and presentation modules

There are thousands of corps out there, and finding the right one for a gamer can be exceedingly difficult. We’re working closely with our hosting provider, Bradley Web Solutions, to support communities better.

With that in mind Clan Watch is looking to the Eve Community to expand the amount of games we support. Features that we have added will be the ability for registered members to create a profile at Clan Watch that can be viewed by clan recruiters for various games supported by Clan Watch. Corp CEO's will have access to the front-end in order to upload pictures and videos to their profile.

Our vision for Clan Watch is for it to become a Social Media Gaming Network.

There are currently no effective out of game methods for recruitment. This site aims to bridge that gap of in-game recruitment and out of game recruitment. By having all relevant info, without limitations to content, CEO's can accuractly depict their corp to players, post videos of various things they do, and find the people THEY want in.

Imagine an automated system where a prospect is applying to the corp, they input their API data, and if certain requirements are not met, YOU are not contacted and they are notified. For example, if you require Amarr BS 5, and they don't have it, you will never know they even applied. You'll have immediate access to security checks as well, through the players API info, allowing for a more streamlined recruitment process.

While i can appreciate what you are trying to do, i cant see this working to well with a game like EVE, at least not by more serious corps.

You said there is a rating option, so im guessing this means you can rate a corp on how good or bad it is.
In theory this is a great system that i would love to see in EVE, but its so easy to abuse! The bigger corps and alliances out there can without a problem go and down rate everyone else, and up voting them self, thus giving a very flawed "score" on a corp or alliance.

Second, recruitment in EVE is so much more then "Have X skills at level 5". Many corps, even with a SP requirement will accept players that do not meet their requirements because they showed the right attitude, drive and will. A system like you are proposing here can cost those corps a lot of good recruits, and most recruiters will know this thus choose to not use it.

And there is an effective "out of game" way to recruit, the recruitment section of these forums! Yes it takes patience, yes it means someone has to read trough a LOT of posts, and yes it means it will take time. But if you are a serious EVE player you know how important it is to find the "right" corp, and you are willing to put in days, if not weeks, looking trough threads and talking to recruits.

At least this is how i feel personally about it, but hey if you manage to make it work, great for you and i wish you the best of luck Big smile

Nightcrawler's post is spot on and describes the issues much more eloquently than I can, but how will you avoid the large Alliances/Corps simply gaming the site to up the ratings for corps that they favour?

GL with it but you will need to demonstrate that safeguards are in place to avoid fiddling, Eve players are notoriously resourceful at bending the rules.

As correct as you are in regards to "Have X to Y Level", there are SOME corps out there that DO require this. For example, a logistics wing can easily require logistics 5, because without it fleets can (and will) fall apart since they cannot maintain cap effectively, and have to use a 4/2 setup.

And ALL ratings will be approved by admins before being visible. Ratings will also require a reasoning for the rating, not just a blank rating. Bad feedback is still feedback, but you can easily tell the difference between "Their timezone did not encompass my area even though they claimed it did" and "LOL THIS CORP SUX"

We greatly appreciate the input thus far, and will continue striving to make an excellent, all-encompassing site in which the eve community will be able to use to add members to their ranks.

Why do I feel like this site was coded in 2004?

Let's take a practical example. At present there are over 10k of members in Goonswarm Federation. If they decide to endorse a corp and tell all their members to rate it as perfect how will you avoid skewed figures?

If you wish your site to be trusted then there must be a certain level of governance in place to ensure that the data you provide can be trusted. I do wonder if you realise just how good some Eve players are at metagaming and manipulating systems.

Don't misunderstand me, if you can make it work then it would be a great resource but unless the information comes with sufficient quality assurance you are not going to get very far in this game.

I've personally played eve for almost 8 years now, and metagaming is just about all I personally do these days. We have a few ideas that we are bouncing around to prevent skewed ratings, but there is no 100% fool-proof system.
