Note: All of this is subject to change between now and when the Collector's Editions get shipped in October (unless the in-game items are being released sooner, I don't know).

The Golden Pod is actually enabled by plugging in an implant, the Genolution 'Auroral' AU-79, that you'll presumably obtain via the redeem items interface. This implant goes in slot 79 so it doesn't conflict with anything else, and it applies to all your clones and is not destroyed during podding. It can however be destroyed if you unplug it. I don't know yet whether this means you can't get another one or what. Presumably this implant can also be sold on the market if you so choose. Expect it to be quite expensive if anybody actually ends up selling them.

Plugging in this implant automatically puts you into a Golden Pod, called the Genolution 'Auroral' 197-variant. It has the exact same attributes as a standard capsule except for it being, well, golden.

And for some reason people will care. I love how the debacle over the p2w fiasco involves literal gold items.

Reuseable, but also sellable!

I'm split. On one hand, I want to fly a Golden Pod, so that I can award players who pod me 150 points for capturing the Golden Snitch!

On the other hand, one of those things is probably going to be expensive toys for the monocle club...

Yeah, it's almost as if CCP has a sense of humor, and were using the history to make a joke.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

I find that CCP has a great sense of humor. Sadly most of the anal retentive 'internet spaceships is serious business' types can't seem to see it.

It will be very interesting if the implant appears on killmails.

Given the potential market value, killboards will die until an admin adds an exception.

the implication being that you do not actually have a golden pod, you simply have a brain implant that makes you believe you have a golden pod

I wonder if anyone will actually be able to see that your in a golden pod, considering they're so small.

Nevermind: Probably right before you go pop they'll see

Which would explain why they're not golden, and quite clearly green when you're playing around in the tech demo / trapped in a room "cq" mode.

I don't think the total worth on the killmail is going to factor in the implant, considering it doesn't technically get destroyed.
In any case, a killmail with just that implant shows the total worth as unknown.

It shows as type "Capsule - Genolution 'Aurural' 197-variant" on the overview.

I hope CCP will let people sell this on the market. All in-game items should be obtainable through in-game means.

In the very likely event that this item is only obtainable via a $150 purchase, I will be very upset, because I don't want any of the other junk in the collector's edition.

Well, look at it this way: you're buying a Rifter-styled USB hub + English version of "Danger Game", which happens to come with the golden pod as a freebie.

See? It's not really that expensive after all Cool

Couldn't get the CE due to my location but I'd definitely pay isk for that implant
