Why the calls for unsubs of WiS Fans?

If you want to verify it go to the forum archive and start digging up the countless posts requesting Avatar's to be included in EVE game play, or the countless more posts from new people quitting because they really couldn't get into being limited to "just being a ship".

It's hard to defend a concept that was so badly handled in it's implementation, but the demand has always been there.

Very true. It depends what the gameplay encompasses. If you can walk in stations,planets, do actual fighting (say you could do WiS and DUST in EVE) I think the effect will be huge.

I have to agree, just walking around in stations, have corp offices and bars may have a smaller effect.

These numbers are more agreeable. Dust 514 may bring in more people than WiS, and if you make WiS a intermediate meeting place between the two worlds who knows then.


One of the WiS features I am looking for. Two different engines though? Hard.
And as many others, I want WiS and more FiS features.
If there was a scifi game that offered the complexity of EVEs FiS and working avatars I'd be gone.
Since there is no such thing & EVEs complexity and sandbox environment is what kept me here four years...
I can wait...

No matter if FiS or WiS though, what they need is new features. Not just eye candy, new ships and rebalancing. Something that makes you say: "Yes, I want to do THAT!" *while drooling*

Aside from that I think asking others to unsub is stupid. But then we are in EVE General forum here. Most people posting here leave their brain at the door and yell: "YEEAH! FLAAAME!"

Well as stupid as it was there was such complaints in the past.

True, they need more than that. They also need engaging Avatar based game play, just as do the countless games available with much larger player bases. Preferably game play that links closely with, and enhances, it's already rich FIS content.

Some people just have trouble identifying with a game if they aren't represented by something remotely humanoid, or at least alive.

Now some games like WOT do well despite the lack of an avatar. However those games tend to be the ones you jump into for a quick pew pew fix... and have no real depth of game play designed to keep you engaged beyond grinding up to the next tier of tank for your next 15 minutes of repetitive combat.

EVE is based around getting it's hooks into you in a much deeper way, and would benefit greatly from anything that helps it more easily do that to a larger population of gamers.

anyone got a second life sub they dont care about?

can ye make some eve online likes station environments (just copy n paste the CQ from eve online) then allow all the WiS cry babies log on to your second life account to keep them happy.

Everytime you buy something that says "made in china" you are helping the rising unemployment in your own country unless you are from china, Buy locally produced goods and help create more jobs.

Not trying to manipulate CCP with my decision, though. What's good for me might not necessarily be good for the game as a whole, and i do agree there's lots of old stuff which still needs work. I'm just personally interested in seeing the game take a new direction, and by 'new direction' i don't mean a new ship or larger fleet battles. I like FiS fine, don't get me wrong, it's just anything gets boring after, what is it now, 8 years? This game really could be so much more. I'll be back if/when that happens.

Really?!

These kids get ships and chat channels with little pictures, yet they still complain? They need to go back to dialling into the local University and IRC. Teach them something about imagination.

Fact is, CCP's vision for the future of EVE still involves WiS in some form (see the video Hilmar poignantly cites in the apology devblog).

So WiS lovers, stop getting your panties in a bunch and stop filling up the forum with pointless threads, your time will come round again. Probably after next Summer.
