Hello,

I just resubbed the eve tonight and was eager to get back to playing. When the eve login screen showed up I thought it looked funny with the lighting but I figured it was supposed t be like that. I got logged in and was walking around a station like normal. I opened up the star map to see where I was at and it was so bright and the lighting was odd, not like I remembered. I figured this was another change to and I didn't like it. I hopped in my ship and from the second it loaded up in the **** a bright blue light was present on the right side of my screen and was really annoying. I undocked and started flying and no matter where I turned the camera that awful glow was there. I also noticed the station, my engines, and the stargate light bursts were all red. I looked in my options to see if I could figure out what was wrong and I noticed the GPU that eve was useing was my Intel HD 4000 instead of my Nvidia GTX 675. I went to change it but the 675 did not show up, only the Intel 4000. My drivers are up to date and I have looked around online for a fix but I CAN NOT find anything. I find similar threads but no solutions. TERA and Planetside 2 all do just fine, but EVE wont use the right GPU.

My computer specs are
Labtop
Intel core I7 2.40 Ghz
16gb ram
Intel HD4000/Nvidia GTX 675
(I think that's all needed for this)

I Went into the Nvidia control panel and set it to run with the GTX 675 but it still only uses the intel 4000. I had taken some screenshots to show what I am dealing with but I cant figure out how to add them. Any help is very appreciated.

Can you turn off the onboard entirely and test it that way?

I wrote some true EVE stories! And no, they're not of the generic "my 0.0 alliance had lots of 0.0 fleets and took a lot of 0.0 space" sort. Check them out here:

I tried that once because I was curious as to what it would do and if I turn it off my entire screen goes black.

I'm fairly positive you should be able to turn off the onboard without affecting anything (it would just use the dedicated GPU). My laptop only has a dedicated card so I'm probably not the best person to help with this, sorry.

Im surprised that with as many threads around the web I have found about this that none of them has a solution. Thank you for trying to help though, its very appreciated. Still not solved though so anyone else have some ideas?

If your colors are inverted or look completely bonkers its like 90% a shader issue, change the shader quality in your settings and this should be fixed, otherwise, gpu issue, someone correct me if i'm wrong please.

This may be but the fact remains that Eve is using the wrong GPU and nothing I do gets it to switch or recognize the other one.

Also IDK if there's an EvE Config file anywhere, so someone direct him to it if it exists, but you should be able to manually change Intel HD4000 to "GTX 6XX" Whatever gpu you have

disable the damn hd4000 from your bios, reinstall your nvidia drivers, then we can start talking

I run a laptop with i7 and 675m and in order for the nvidia to work the laptop needs to be plugged in, it won't turn on under battery power. Plug it in to wall outlet, reset everything to default in the nvidia control panel and try again, game looks gorgeous on my GT70.

It is plugged in. I even found an option in the nvidia control panel to show me when and what the GPU is being used. It shows that when I open eve the 675 is being used for it but the eve options still says it is using the intel 4000. The colors are still all screwed up. I have no idea why or what is causing this and no matter how much searching I do I cant find a solution. The only thing I have found is that apparently intels new "Optimus" is responsible for this GPU switching problem. I dont see why it only does this for eve and not the other games I have played. To my knowledge the other games used the 675 but I actually dont have any proof of that so now im starting to question if my labtop has been using the 675 for those games to, although no color problems for those.

Alright. I read somewhere that someone reinstalled the driver that came with the computer and it worked. So i rolled back the driver and now the colors are back to normal. Eve itself still says it is using the intel 4000 but the nvidia tool says that the 675 is being used for the game so I guess I will take what I can get.

If anyone knows why or how to make eve recognize the 675 please let me know. Thank you all for the help.

Oh, Eve option will always say its using the HD4000 because that is the main video, the 675m kind of kicks in invisibly. If the 675m was not kicking in you would notice it in the form of lag. Even DXdiag will not report the 675m if i recall. It seems to me you just have a issue with coloring. Let me think about it a few minutes.

Did you set your nvidia control panel to defaults? Some of the setting kinda make eve look a bit weird. Also run a repair so see if there is any corruption in game files.

Do you know if your Laptop is maybe running Nvidia Optimus. If you're getting **** while trying to run the right GPU it may well be the problem.

It's caused me no end of ****.

I was having the exact problem OP describes, changing shader quality from high to medium worked like a charm.

I use a fairly high-end business laptop (with an external graphics card unit) and it works just fine

My GTX660 had a driver update last night and I had the same issue you described. I uninstalled it and installed the last drivers and it solved my problem.

To describe the visual in more detail: the lighting was extremely bizarre, with a ton of really bright blues and reds, especially when a system's star was on screen.

Can't wait to dual box my Dust toon and EVE toon on the same machine!
