Haven't really played in over a year. Questions regarding the new Bounty System.

So I was really excited to hear about the new bounty and kill rights system. It seemed like bounty hunting and solo hi-sec PVP would become a legitimate way of playing. Of course, EVE players are infamous for learning how to game the system. I was wondering how this system has unfolded in actual gameplay now that it's been around for a while. Can you actually (productively) hunt around for players with purchasable kill rights? (Obviously I don't mean for it to be a profitable excursion, but I just mean in terms of finding people to shoot at) Or has some feature allowed these players to live in relative safety, or is the system just used due to some flaw, like the previous system?

Thanks!

Generally, people with purchasable kill rights are either a scam/trap since most people with legitimate kill rights simply buy them off with an alt or friend while in a noob ship.
That said, if you look for high sec people with juicy bounties and plan a gank on their shiny mission running ship, you should be able to make a profit, it will just be suicide ganking profit most of the time.

Bounties are pretty useless in my experience. Putting one on anyone who PvPs at all is pretty much wasting your money and putting one on a carebear doesn't generally entice ganking, and is otherwise pretty hard to collect on.

Bounties are, however, an awesome way to annoy space-barbie fans because the WANTED sign covers up a good 1/3 of the character portrait.

CCP has no sense of humour.

I must agree that wanted sign can be an annoyance and limit your creative potential when making avatar pictures D:

But actually I agree with the rest as well. It is pretty useless mostly.. The thing is.. pirates are desperate for kills already because of so few people in low sec, they'll kill anyone even if they had to pay for it.
Also with the new system - to really get a good share of the bounty you'd have to blow up something really big and fat, and no one is going to do that in hi-sec as they'll get concorded and probably lose more than they'd get for making the effort.

If bounties were to matter, it should allow people to attack you in hi-sec, as that is the only place where they don't attack you by default already. Not sure that would be a good idea though.. So yeah it's mostly just a status symbol to have a big bounty :o

Unless you and me both are subject to a certain 'scam' involving Suspect timers, killrights on me are legit. I just don't care enough about fake internet cashmoneydollars to use an alt and enjoy the idea of having to be carefull as a consequence of my actions. Most people will use a hauling alt though, so you are better off roaming lowsec and activating killrights to make sentry guns shut up. On the other hand, why not be quick about it, take the sec hit and alpha your target? You still get a bounty payout... Blink

Summary:

* The new system does not motivate bounty hunters to attack people in highsec
* The new system does not motivate bounty hunters to attack people in lowsec (they would do it anyway)
* The new system does not motivate bounty hunters to attack people in nullsec (they would do it anyway)
* Despite these facts carebears still get uncontrollably mad when a bounty is placed on them, this is working as intended

Just join whatever faction is currently losing FW and have fun. FW is where its at for low sec pvp. More targets than you can shake a thrasher at. If you are smart, it is almost impossible to lose your pod. The fights are fun and relatively inexpensive since the preferred ship type is usually no bigger than cruiser size.

The best part is that you can join and leave anytime you want as often as you want.
