I honor a 1 on 1, but I also understand that there is a good chance that my 1 on 1 can turn into many on one fast. Thats why I usually do 1 on 1s in frigates, frigate fight usually don't last long and that said means by the time his/her friends warp on you the fight is over and you are gone. I say keep doing 1 on 1's but expect whoever you are fighting to have back up is all. Fly Safe, and Happy Hunting...

Stupid people should suffer, I'm OK with that.

I used to do quite a lot of duels in Empire and lowsec. If you check my killboard data from a few years ago, you will find a lot of cruiser and frigate battles in Amarr, Youl, and the faction warfare zone of Devoid & The Bleak Lands. I speak from experience when I say that there are plenty of people out there who will honour duels. I also speak from experience when I say that there are plenty of people out there who just want to pad their killboard with another easy win. Just accept the fact that you take risk whenever you trust someone. This is true of real life as well as in EVE.

Specific to EVE you really ought to consider that if you're abandoning something that you prefer to do (honourable 1v1 space combat) because of the actions of others, then you are letting those faceless others ruin your game and dictate to you how you play it. I would humbly suggest that you adopt a different perspective. Rather than assuming that a duel will be honoured and then becoming upset when it is not, go into each duel with the understanding that there's a good chance it will not be honoured and then be pleasantly surprised if it is. Your angst-filled words on the forums will not change things for the better, either in your life or in your game play; but, a conscious choice by you to accept responsibility for your actions and choices can lead to you having a more realistic and positive outlook on the same data.

I just liked a goon. It is all downhill from here....

90% of of the time my posts are about something I actually find interesting and want to learn more about. Do not be alarmed.

Noone has hit the easiest way to know who will honor a 1v1, know the corp!

Get to know the bigger corps around your area. It's quite likely some or many will have a strict 1v1 rule. The last several corps I have been all had this.

If someone dishonors the 1v1 in said corp, report them and they get the boot (usually).

I successfully get many many 1v1s, if you cannot then you are either:

1) Extremely unlucky
2) Live in an area full of douche bags

FYI: QCATS are required to honor (agreed upon) 1v1s. I think members of Tuskers, Percussive Diplomacy, and other corps are as well.

This ^^

That being said, R1FTA would like to invite you to Heild, Molden Heath, where you are sure to find gfs. If you want a fun 1v1 Frig fight, stop by and ask. You may see a few Black Rebels in local but if you ask any of us for a 1v1 the others will stay out of it.

Join RvB and ask other RvB members for 1v1. "1v1 t1 frigs anyone" will normally get a response. Also a great learning experience. If fights are not honored, link convo and killmail to one of the corp executives and the dishonorable player will be removed from corp.

P.S. Out of the 20ish 1v1 fights I had, all were honored.

This is EVE. If the fight's fair then you are doing it wrong Twisted

I don't specifically ask for 1v1 fights but if I happen across someone looking for a fight (and it's not obvious bait, yes Maller pilots, I am looking at you...) then I will fight without backup and I have many solo kills (as well as blob kills).

I basically suit myself in EVE. Whatever seems most fun at that moment in time. No-one dictates how I play.

Nothing wrong with appreciating the merits of someone's statement.

The same cannot be said of prejudicial assumptions based on affiliation.

I have a corporation member who also got fed up with the dishonor 1 on 1's, but it didnt stop him, from trying.

He set up a chat channel for people who honored a 1 on 1 and within a week he had more than 40 people in this channel who all honor 1 on 1s and it became quite easy to get a good fight every night.

You can look him up in game: Atrecia Tegenaria

This channel he has are mainly people in Heimatar and Metropolis.

He just had a summer break from EVE but have just become active again.

To the OP:

I understand what you mean, and it is a lil upsetting at first when people won't or don't honor a 1v1... but you can't let it ruin your day mate. This is what I do, I simply set up an alt, for remote repping, just in case they don't honor the engagement. Remember, there are no unwritten rules, and you need to be a few steps ahead of your opponent. Instead of simply finding someone to fight and engaging them, find someone, research them, follow them around for a day or week, and then engage them after you are comfortable knowing, if they use alts, rem reps, or buddies to help with the 1 v 1. Take more time in your selection, unless you are prepared to suffer the consequences, when you rush in, and lock someone, and get squished, cause they have a rem rep or buddies to help. :)

Although being a slightly notorious pilot in my way, i have had amazingly clean sport with more or less arranged 1v1 pvp. The traditional little cheats my opponents don't remember to mention about is some sort of fleet links, but that does not count as a ruining factor in a fair fight.

Best and worst examples of honor comes from outsiders. Seen hostile pilots undocking in between a fight and carrying on with a " You guys seem to have a good fight ,, not going to involve ""

As a bad example some butthurt wt capsuleer had to do little bit of work to actually find our fight just to ruin the most enjoyable pvp dance. The honorful pilot i was fighting with had to apologize and state that he or his corp had nothing to do with such surprise. He was afraid that i might think his entire corporation as an unhonorable jerks because of that one foolish outsider.

Bottom line ,, It seems that at least Minmatar fw pilots count fair and thrilly fun better than lying for a easy killmail. Props for that o7

Shadow Cartel alliance always honors 1v1's if it is agreed to by both sides, if one of us does not, link the chat log and killmail to one of our leaders..

(of course not all of us will agree to a 1v1 in the first place, but that's something else entirely)
