The new launcher is Okish. It does not kill the multiboxers tbh. Example:

Example for 3 clients

Previous launcher:
Step 1: Open the launcher
Step 2: Click play button 3 times to bring up 3 clients.
Step 3: Enter the Username and password
Step 4: Hit enter /repeat steps 3,4 x3 times

New launcher:
Step 1: Open the launcher
Step 2: Insert Username and password
Step 3: Hit play
Step 4: Click Switch user account /repeat steps 2,3,4 x3 times

The new launcher has 1 step more clicking "Switch user account " every time after clicking play. IMO is not really a big hustle because it comes naturally and does not lag at all.

You will open faster 5 accounts with the new launcher simply because lags less doing it trough launcher. With previous method u had always to wait the main screen to load up.

The main drawback is that we won't enjoy the visuals and music of the launching screen. If the Launcher was something like League of legends one, animated and with music, with the option to turn the animations and music off/on, than it would be something.
The other option is to incorporate animations and music within the character selection screen.

Also this would be the right time to incorporate the log off mechanic which brings you to the character selection screen

EDIT: The wheel doesn't always work when scrolling latest news box. And when u try to do it with the slider, you actually select all the text. When EVETV is opened and closed than the "Latest news" section works properly.

BALEX, bringing piracy on a whole new level.

Many were outraged by the first hours bugs in it, like completely unable to login or the UI reset

Other than the bugs, (speaking for myself) I have no issue at all with the new mechanics, specially if you read why they did these changes (to fix and replace very outdated stuff in the old launcher and to improve the way it grab the updates and patches)

I'm completely OK with that, and I can use my 3 accounts normally with it

New launcher keeps running in background also and if you close it from Task manager whole game goes away. Im ok it running in background but it stays up even if you log off from eve.

what I dislike is the lack of a drop down list of characters - my launcher is stuck to the last one I used - totally annoying.

Previously I had multiple accounts linked to one install! Launch link 1, then 2 then 3. Worked.

I logged in to find many people with hosed configurations - using the 'single launcher' seems to blap your config on certain characters.

I'm having to use the bin/EveExe for now as its done this 6 times - FKING annoying doesnt cover it. Ragequit gets close - one corpie has just opted out of playing for a while until its fixed as he consistently loses his config.

Whats bad about all of this is - NO INFORMATION.

Atrocious release. No information, no guidance. It didnt work and is still broken. As someone working in development and testing .. its fundamentally as poor as it gets.

Protip: There's an option in the launcher settings to close the launcher after starting the Eve client.

as I've said before and I'll probably say again...
use the launcher for updates
my icons are directly linked via junctions to Charname\bin\exefile.exe [I use Icons to launch separate characters / settings]

My main problem is that it offers zero benefits for those with multiple accounts and adds quite a bit of hassle for the same people in many cases

Or cut out the launcher entirely and just launch exefile.exe. double click icon as many times as you need, choose user name and input passwords and profit.

And eventually they will remove this way of logging in and a lot of people will be pissed off because the classic login looked better, the launcher/login looks like a cheap piece of crap and is not really an improvement anyway.

I haven't tested it too much but I'm not really a fan (yet). Especially as I can't seem to launch multiple clients

1. Launch EVE through Steam
2. Log into the Launcher and hit Play
3. Launcher disappears and EVE Online loads
4. Log into EVE (Why do we have to do it twice?)
5. Attempt to launch EVE again through Steam... game is already running mofo

This whole launcher fiasco is making the game harder to play for me.

What is truly mind-boggling is that a 3rd party program like eve-mon is SMART enough to save your settings after an update, but EVE's programmers just can't seem to get the hang of this! Roll

Possibly hire a couple of professional programmers to fix this stuff????

Why do I have to keep changing my way of playing this game to fit what the "programmers" screw up?

It grows tiresome.

What I don't like about the new system is that the "relog" button has been removed. So if I want to switch characters I have to quit the game and relaunch the game and log in all over again. What is so difficult about having a button in the esc menu that allows us to go back to the character selection screen?

We should have three options in the esc menu.

  1. Character selection (Which shouldn't require logging in again)
  2. Relog (For when you want to switch accounts)
  3. Quit (Log out)

This isn't even something we should have to ask for. CCP should have thought "How can we make it easier for our customers to relog or switch characters?"

I still don't see any difference. I'm on a Mac and my launcher hasn't changed.

1980's batch files to the rescue - with this you can still have the launcher's 'benefits' and an easy to use single click launch for all client copies, each with unique settings, and each remembering it's own username.

I did it a little differently.

Previous: Bypass launcher entirely.
Now: Bypass launcher entirely.

Less steps. Less hassle. Less damage from facedesking.
