Sorry part of it is in dutch? the only thing not in dutch is CCP games and Eve Online.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

All I see is something about cookies. Are they offering cookies to people? Are they taking them away? Did they switch cookie brands?

I don't even see a video to play with the OP linkage at all. Sad

Edit: nvm. It's just buried in the boilerplate on the right.

Interesting.
Seeing as the economic recovery plan worked so well, why did the voters give them the boot(.ini)?

Interesting. CCP really is one of the more important economic institutions of the country? Somehow that seems unlikely 0-o

CCP's part is rather small though...

Apart from the Aluminium industry there's not a whole lot of export going on in Iceland (and as such foreign currency coming in).

CCP brings in quite a lot of foreign currency every month, which considering the countries very small population (only around 350,000) is quite a lot of money being brought in at regular intervals. This can be quite an important economic factor, as an influx of more stable foreign currency exchanged for ISK boosts the stability of the Krona (I think that's how it works, but I'm no economist). As such, CCPs steady income from their MMO is quite the boon for Iceland's economy. Especially if quite a bit of that money is then injected back into the economy by investments in hardware, people, etc.

EDIT : Nieuwsuur and CCP missed the opportunity to properly label Dr. Eyjólfur Guðmundsson as the games economist. What?

According to this Business Week article, CCP had $65mil revenue last year and employs 600 people. That's .02% of Iceland's population. An equivalent U.S. company would have 626,000 employees.

Our fun facts from the article:
-A frigate costs less than $1 (in PLEX value)
-A titan costs about $3,200 (in PLEX value)

That's a pretty damn big employer, relatively-speaking.
