Seems like a soldier was killed in the streets of central London, and the media got there before the Met did. Seems they were taken out by armed Police though.

Guardian
BBC.

Yeah, saw that. I'm thinking 'spur-of-the-moment/opportunistic' attack.

Pretty messed-up. Sad

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Think of it as us going to Defcon one, means its being taken as a terrorist attack and recalling the cabinet. Probably reckon this could kick off some riots in London or something.

One of the attackers got a speech onto TV with his hands covered in blood and a meat cleaver in his hand in the Guardian article. Since he got himself shot by the Police, some of the population will protest that....

The guy was shot shortly after stabbing a man in cold blood on tape then lunged at a police officer. Who would be protesting that?

People who don't like guns. It will start with 'They (the cops) could have used a less lethal way..' and degrade from there.

I'm afraid I can't go into details due to the ban on discussion of politics on the forums.
But there is a portion of the population that would support such events, others that are more aggressive in their opposition which spirals could spiral into riots, like 2 years ago.

Also its been confirmed as an attack on a soldier by Islamists, 2 of the attackers still alive but moved into hospitals and under police guard. I look forward to their trial with interest.

Can we call this what it really is. Flat out murder. The motivation really does not matter. Premeditated cold blooded murder. The trial should be swift and the sentence should be death.

What do we do to rabid dogs? As humans we should hold all our kind to higher standards. They have proven that they can not operate within the boundaries of Common Law and therefore should be removed from the system.

That was pretty much my train of thought as well.

Its being considered an act of Terrorism by the Home Office and Scotland Yard, which I think opens up more options with regards to how they are treated. They are still alive.

Why haven't they 'died of their injuries' yet? Jeeez... No one knows how to do this kind of thing properly any more.

I hope they live a long life in a maximum security prison sharing a cell with "Bert the Bummer" who won't take no for an answer.

As part of the British armed forces there is a lot of outrage among us at the moment. I will follow the story with keen interest.

I was rather hoping they would be kept in a Military Prison.

Surely Woolwich Barracks has such a facility?

They'd take excellent care of them would they not?

Woolwich barracks has the guard room and that's about it from memory. Colchester Prison, the Glasshouse, is the military prison in the UK.

As they were civilians, and the attack wasn't committed on MoD property it's down to the civilian authorities to deal with it.
I've seen all sorts of vitriol being spewed by people on faecesbook over this. The worst of which in my opinion are the ones calling for Islam to be banned in the UK, which as far as I'm concerned is totally against everything the UK stands for especially when it comes down to the freedom to practice your religious beliefs, as long as they don't break the law of the land. I believe that those that are religious should be able to practice their religion without fear of persecution for doing so, even if I am of the opinion that their beliefs are pure bunkum.

In the beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

I was more going for the natural justice angle, let the fellows of the victim make sure they never see sunlight for the rest of their long natural lives. I would of course prefer the death penalty, but in its absence a long life of solitude and the world neither remembering, nor caring.

The banning of islam, in total agreement with your perspective. However I can't help but feel that the ideology underneath has to be dealt with in some way, better teaching of sciences, teaching the background of religions as opposed to shooing it to the back ect. Plenty of ways a liberal society can defang radicals without resorting to absolution ism.

Its what they used to do.

I dont understand why they think attacks like this will work. Hitler bombed just about every city and industrial town for years untill they were rubble and we didnt give up. Things like this simply do not work against us and only reinforces our view that these people are savage morons.
