Exactly, why is this launcher supposed to be better?

I must say, this really makes logging multiple accounts a pain in the ass. It went from two clicks of the Play button to clicking, waiting for the first window to load, going back to the launcher, re-logging, and waiting for the second. A process that used to take ten seconds now takes over a minute. I must say, I'm not impressed. It takes some skill to screw up a loading bar and a Play button.

And now that everyone is using the workaround Exefile.exe method, I forsee that there will be a lot of pissed off people when they decide to remove the ingame login alltogether.

With this new framework, it would take minimal effort to implement a rapid (near-instant) character swap mechanic that does not involve relogging. Considering the upcoming changes with dual-training, I wouldn't be surprised if that functionality is right around the corner.

- The new launcher is also capable of staying open, this is simply an option that looks like is now on by default in the new one, just change it.
- Those menus you are referring to were a convenience thing but far from the launcher's purpose
- The current purpose of the launcher is to provide a new login system that is external to the client, a upfront location for news items, and provide a few quick links to some vital pages such as account management or customer support or patch notes

And plex sales , and power of two , and AUR deals and ..... KACHINNNNNNNNNNNNNNG

I was referring to the small grey colored links at the top....

but not gonna deny that the stuff you mentioned is emblazoned upon the launcher with large pictures and bold font.

One thing I'd like the new launcher to have is the ability to select your character as well, so you can just go straight to space when the client launches.

That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers.

Which is ironic cause 90% of us were bugged that it DIDNT auto close when the first version of the launcher was introduced.

I would bet money that fact played part in now requiring you to use the launcher. The launcher was a great asset for marketing and no one was using it. So they forced us to use it. I don't care what they promise the launcher will do in the future, if it doesn't improve functionality now, but will 12 months from now, then don't release it until 12 months from now.

You're not forced to use it dummy.

locate exefile.exe create shortcut

no more launcher.

The new launcher is the fault of CSM8. Less than a month on the job and we have this to thank them for.

Just create a shortcut from the ExeFile.exe in the bin folder from where you installed EvE, no launcher needed that way, and you get the logoff option in the client

We shouldn't need to circumvent or work around anything. Face it, CCP screwed the pooch on this and all it has done is bungled up what was once perfectly good. They give us no good explaination as to why this new launcher is superior to the old. They just tell us it is and yet, from what we know now(because we're using it) it is inferior in every way compared to the old. This would be like Internet providers going from always on the Internet to having to use dial-up to get online.

CCP telling us, it is better for the future of the game without telling us how is just sad and just shows once again that they are back to their old games of thumbing their noses at the customer base.

Does this situation remind anyone of Incarna?

CCP published a half-baked "thing" that was a guy walking around a room with a door that he couldn't open and a ledge (balconey to the ship hanger) that he couldn't jump off of...and believe me i tried lol. But that's ALL it was ,It was basically a "place holder for future awesomeness".

This new launcher is also supposed to be awesome....in the future.

Note to CCP, if you feel the itch to deploy other features that "will be awesome in the future", do us a favor and wait till the damn future when it's finished, THEN deploy it.

I normally hate you and all your posts, but this one makes me gleefully agree with you.

How is this suppose to help the 75% of players who don't visit the forums?

Think again, "For the moment the old method of logging into the client will remain, but in the long term we're intending to remove it." - CCP Atropos

We gonna be stuck with it eventually.

Doesn't bypassing the launcher (even the old one) also bypass the validation and patching process?

The launcher was in a FINISHED STATE when it was released back then.

Right now? it's not even 25% of the way.

As a result of experimenting with this the other day, I THINK that if the game isn't the right version it will tell you and give you the option to update, and then fire up the launcher.

I cant remember last time i stop at login screen to watch animation there,so i am not gonna miss it...

Also ..don't care.

I can remember the last time I stopped at log in screen and I loved it.

It's another piece of EvE.... "EvEness" that is being ripped away from the players.

Enjoy the AWESOME (ever heard of this CCP motto?) new cheap Korean launcher MMO looks!

As well, it really shouldn't take nearly 6 minutes to validate the client... the old launcher only took roughly 30 seconds. I can handle the rest of this launcher thing... just, please, make it validate faster!
