welcome to 2013, now you quit client and select play on launcher and the client reopens to character selection screen, you don't have to re enter password.

Unless of course you have logged into another client between logging in/out on that client then you have to start over. The launcher doesn't keep track of ALL clients logged in, just your last one.

What? The launcher closes after it launches the client. I've had to enter password every single time AND click away that silly eula. This crap is slowing me down.

If your launcher is closing after it launches the client, it is probably because back in the before time you set the "Close the EVE Launcher after starting Eve Online" setting in the launcher. Before it was mostly pointless to have the launcher stay running so a lot of people set that option. To change it back, open launcher, click gear icon in upper right corner, click "Startup" and uncheck that box. Launcher will now stay running after you start the client.

Oh good, they finally streamlined the character switching process like everyone's been asking for for years... Roll

Well, yes and no.

If you leave the client open for a fair time (>30 minutes), I believe the token that the launcher has times out, so you have to log off, then back on to be able to use it.

I've had some trouble with it yesterday.

Woo! CSM XI!

Or u could just create a shortcut from the ExeFile.exe in the bin folder from where you installed EvE, no launcher needed that way, and u get the logoff option in the client :)

This needs to be spammed more.

People just aren't getting it.

I wouldn't call this a real character switching process. A real one would keep the client open and just go back tot eh character screen.

This is only going to work till the June 4th when the expansion comes out. After it comes out they're removing the client login screen and the only way to login is going to be from the launcher.

I don't care if they remove the log off button as long as we get a 'switch character' button that brings me straight to character selection. I don't want to have to quit my client, close the launcher, then restart the launcher, log back in and start the client. I run multiple accounts with multiple characters and this is just annoying.

BTW, that launcher really needs to have a single button that allows you to login and start.

Except that those of us who run multiple clients for different screens cannot leave the launcher open, so it's now it's a giant pain in the ass to do any sort of account/character switching.

I have found that the eve launcher does not close properly: it hangs around in the background
(the only place you can find its presence is in the Windows Task Manager, under processes)

If you run the eve repair tool, it will download any repair, then you get an error message (caused by the hidden eve launcher.exe)

I would just like to have a reliable way to turn off the eve launcher completely, as it is seriously buggy

The game needs a button to switch to character select.

Do any CCPers have multiple trading accounts? It was very bad before, now it's the most convoluted character switching process of any MMO I've ever played, honestly.

Hmm… I still have a log-off button. But then, ⌥⌘ ESC was always quicker anyway… P

Uh

Welcome to 2004, where you log out of WoW and choose an alt without completely rebooting your client?

This was one thing about EVE I never really understood.

Can careless about the log off button but again I agree with a switch char button from the escape screen. As I have since I started posting this in 2005
