Logging in SISI - Odyssey

As it is now, you are required to login to the SISI Launcher in order to launch the client. Which brings quite a big headache to those that need to manage multiple characters and multiple accounts. Especially those with multiple characters on the same accounts. (PI Fanatics <3)
Is there a way to set it up to launch the clients without the launcher? (VIA old login screen) - or even older, where there was no launcher... period.

1 thing that should be asked, is if something already works, and works well.. why change it?

Personal note to CCP Atropos,
I like your idea's about the prospect of future launching techniques, and that you are active in talking to the community (+1 from me Blink) but forcing stuff down with no words is not the right way to start as proven in the past.

You say "No, you're misunderstanding. Just rest assured that our goal is to make it easier and quicker to log in and play the game for both people with multiple accounts and those with just one." - CCP Atropos, and yet your actions are speaking otherwise.
The current method as stated by quite a few only complicates managing/running Eve, and yet you do not acknowledge or even attempt to 'try it yourself'.

btw... "For the moment the old method of logging into the client will remain, but in the long term we're intending to remove it." - CCP Atropos

Where is this? - that post was less than 2 days ago, and yet there is no start, I call bullshit.

Possible Workarounds-
"Other such changes might include storage of your client settings in the cloud so that when you login you can instantly pick your client launch configuration. However to do this means making some necessary changes to the current flow." - CCP Atropos

^^ Needs more thought, but me likey the direction. <3 but even if it's not 'cloud' even a local cache would work. (I.E. certain settings per account when at a friends house on a laptop, then another set of settings when at home on a desktop)

"I am a multi-account user and until now i had no issue with that. But this launcher is simply a pain in the ass and as necessary as cancer. After 10 years CCP finaly finds out it would be nice to offer some support for multi-account users. But instead of asking ppl what they need or would like to see, CCP again decides they know best. Did you realy not lern form the past?" - James Razor

"Bring back the "PLAY" button. Or make it more easy to launch many chars by allowing to have profiles of many chars that you can launch at once with one click. This is a MASSIVE pain in it's current form for anyone multiboxing." - Demolishar

Make it easier to log multiple accounts in and then make it easier to switch between characters on those accounts.
This would appear to be a massive step backwards!

And while you're at it, how about supporting 2-step authentication - with multiple accounts on the go, it would need to adopt Blizzard's method of only asking for a code once a week unless your IP / hardware changes rather than Rift's method of asking every time you login!!!

This is absolutely brutal on logging ONE character compared to the old system, let alone multiple characters on the same account or multiple accounts.

The problem with the old system was you could not swap between characters without restarting the client; now you can't swap between characters without:

1) exiting the client
2) opening the launcher
3) waiting for the launcher to "validate" your install for the 50th time (not sure why it keeps doing this to me)
4) Launch again
5) Log in to character again.

EDIT: After about 5 seconds of additional testing I found the "switch user account" link, which allows for easy launching of multiple accounts. I still think the below should count for something because of the difficulty logging into multiple characters on the same account.

You should be able to log out to character select screen like, I don't know, EVERY OTHER GAME EVER. You should have a LAUNCH screen in the EXE, not some bogus from launcher straight to character screen like Planetside 2. You think that's all "new and cool" but it's ham-handed and annoying.

As it stands now, I have to open the launcher over and over to get each toon logged in (because I can't bypass it to EXE without skipping the launcher). Then if I have to switch characters I get to open the launcher... again.

Before I could open up 9 instances of EVE, get my passwords all in, log them all in at the same time, and just roll through the windows logging toons in. Now I have to Launcher; password. Wait. Launcher, password, wait. Launcher Password, wait.

I'm glad you're proud of your shiny new launcher, but don't make it difficult on your players who are paying 9x as much as the people this launcher is intended for. Find a solution.

The new launcher while neat and flashy really provides nothing to increase game play value and only makes it harder for people who want to run multiple accounts. Please look at a different method to reach your desired end result and this time ask the community for feedback instead of just making changes first.

Nostalgia aside (its not something im given to) the new login/launcher screen is a step backwards in my opinion.

It looks terrible. Its cluttered, there is a ton of information on it and half of it you really dont need when you are logging in. You know there is something wrong when 9 out of 10 functions on the launcher screen sends you to a website link that is opened in a browser. How is that usefull? Instead of adding useless clutter to the launcher, add one link that sendsyou to the eve online main site if you really think people need that option. Chances are that you allready have a browser window open anyway, as that is most likely the first thing you open after booting up your pc.

Meanwhile the login/launcher screen doesnt even let you change the settings of your eve client, woops. And Im not sure about this, but it seems I cant open the launcher while I have a eve client running allready. need another client open? Nope sorry you have to close the one you are running to open the launcher... What?

The launcher screen is there to send you into the game as painlessly as possible and granted, you can now login directly from the launcher but in fact when you compare the new with the old functionality, you really arent getting much in terms of ease-of-use with the new. The only step made redundant by this new launcher? The play button on the old launcher! which could be bypassed by having a shortcut directly to the client. So really what you have done is you have replaced the old animated in-game login screen which had bucketfulls of style, with a combination launcher and login screen that is an absolute eye-sore!

This is the equivalent of google changing their simplistic and functional style, with something that looks like freakin' yahoo.
