hey guys im having some issues at home with my network/service. im dropping connection to eve every 10 mins or so. also when i try to connect to my browser it takes like 5 mins to connect or many many refresh. when i run the troubleshoot for windows 8. it says cant connect to proxy or sometimes it says something about dns. so my question is, is there a network diag tool i can use to help me? or is it most likely my isp (at&t) , maybe working on the lines or something??

Most likely service provider but did you cycle the power on your modem and router?

Either that, your router, or your ISP.

Try pingplotting the route to TQ. You will see where the hangup/drop occurs.

suggest you check route with something like http://www.pingplotter.com/freeware.html (free easy to use), just set it to 20 hops every second. run it in the back ground for a few hours and you´ll find the trouble spots

old school is CMD... tracert IP address

already dead, just haven´t fallen over yet....

AT&T is terrible when it comes to drop connections.

haven't had any issues with win 8 or its server variants. Reboot everything on your network (computer, router modem etc) if it persists call at&t.

Haven't touched server variants, but I had to set up a touchpad using Win 8 and had nothing but problems getting the Wireless and Ethernet to work properly. Wireless would spontaneously break down for no apparent reason at least twice a day and would only work after manually restarting the tablet...

I've had issues with ISP DNS servers in the past. Nowadays I have my router set to route all DNS calls through OpenDNS servers instead. It "feels" faster to me, but I haven't run any comparative tests on it.
