Tech 2 Battleships... a 3rd?

Well I'm sure many of the more skilled players may have already noticed a lack of the 3rd battleship in each race having a t2 variant.

I'm also pretty sure this has been brought up before.

My Question is. What would be a good role for the 3rd battleships t2 variant be?

We've got Black Ops. No Targeting Delay Faster Speeds While Cloaked and Cover Cynos. Good Roles if you ask me..

Then Marauders... PVE Much? Tractor beams on a battleship... This wasn't made to go out and pvp in ...

EDIT:

Sniping Ship. - Increased Targeting Range 100% +25% per Level / Increased Turret Optimal to Match.
Increased Damage @ Optimal - Lower Fall off.
Higher Warp Time - Slower Base Speeds.
Great for Taking down Starbase Equipment . Very Vulnerable - to being dropped in on. Safely pick off targets in your ranges.


Gun Boat - 50% Reduction in fitting costs for an MWD. - Increased Fall Off / Less Optimal. / Slightly Increased Damage.
Lower Tanking ability. (Requiring More Logistics Support and Less focus on Tanking)
This Ship would be good for taking down a capital Ship. Making them try to focus on either dropping the supports so they can drop the Ship or Drop the Ship before they take too much damage.

Command Ship (Something Like this) - Increased Tanking ability. / Decreased DPS ability.
Able to fit 3x Command Modules to Increase DPS / Tanking / Other Modifiers.
A Must have for Fleet Combat as one of these could make your fleet almost twice as strong. ?

What do you guys think?

I would like to see a Khanid BS, personally. I doubt it would have much to offer different from the Golem, but I still want one. Maybe something a bit more versatile than a pure PvE boat. Torps and neuts would be crazy.

That reminds me, long has EW combat worthy BSs for all races been asked for/suggested... not that I think it would be in anyway balanced. Logistical BSs have been suggested.

In terms of really answering your question, I think something geared toward exploration would be cool. Bonuses to scanning and some other useful stuff. The timing would have to be with a buff, or even a revamp, of the current exploration system. You can use other ships, and that will work fine, but it is a niche that could be filled.

While they were at it, a series of SoE ships designed in suit would be fitting. What a SoE BS would be like I have been pondering for awhile.

I view the Battleship as a Ship that demands the attention on the field of battle.

A scanning battleship would be pointless imho. Since it would be geared towards doing a job that could be commited already in a smaller ship.

EW = Support Skills in fleet battles, where you get smaller ships to Jam/Web/Scram/Paint/etc.

The Battleship should be the focus of all the smaller ships. Where I think the Command Battleship would come into play really well. Since it will, in a sense, be an important ship to keep alive. Much more important than a BC with cruisers and smaller ships engaging in the combat / support of the Fleet Battle. The Command Ship provides the bonuses that can change the tides of battle but I don't think that it should be exactly like the BC Command Ships. Instead be More Powerful.

The Gun Boat could be easily done with the T3 BC's or already existing Battle Cruisers. The reason i suggested it is because a Battleship that could fly at 750m/s and do 450 DPS with a decent tank already exists. The only problem is I wouldn't fly it into battle myself as it costs over 1billion isk to fit. Maybe if we're talking about doing 25 billion isk worth of damage in hopes to get 7.5-10billions worth of isk in loots. However this gunboat would be more powerful and could be a major turning point when taking on cap ships. - Instead Cap Ships mainly worrying about the other cap ships. they'd have to worry about a decent fleet of these.

The Sniper, i would honestly suggest that as a cruiser / battle cruiser , but the BS's have the ability to shoot further away as is... so it wouldn't be much of a drastic change they just get smaller windows longer ranges and more focused damage. Such as an Amarr BS sniper ship wouldn't focus on the ships flying towards it as much as trying to drop the structures that it's keeping at range from. A fleet of these could probably stay out of the 300km range that pos guns can hit at, but it would take a while for an individual Ship to do much damage. ^_^

Maybe make them marauders and offer the races other weapon set bonuses. For instance:

Caldari - Hybrid bonus.
Gallente - Large drone bay with drone bonuses.
Amarr - Missile bonuses (like the damnation, etc).
Minmatar - Uhm ... missile ... bonuses?

They would have 4 hard points like the other marauders, boost to active tanks, etc just like marauders. Itd be nice flying a Droned out Megathron or Siege missiled Abaddon.

Its not a very well thought out idea ... but ... eh.
