Station Undock Change Request

Hello,

seriously, what Caldari ponce on an engineer, designs a massive space station, then puts a huge wall on the side of the undock point?

I am trying to undock, align to something, a stargate, another station, moon, POS, whatever. The ship turns to this destination, and there is a great big wall there.

If I am building a multi trillion ISK station, to be used to dock up in, surely the dock/undock point would be designed for efficient use...

Watching my freighter fumble around like a fat turtle trying to hump a boulder, after waiting for the already long align time, is just pain for no reason at all. What is the purpose of this?

Not all designs are equal (especially with Caldari, and while I can relate to your pain, you could use instawarp bookmarks to avoid it.

You get similar problems with Amarr stations when you drop out of their bottom (in a manner of speaking). But I agree it is annoying.

Please, tell, how do you allow efficient undock related to 2 desitnation separated by 180ΒΊ?

If the undock points towards A, it won't point towards B.

The solution would be to ask the palyer "where are you going to" prior to undock and assing the appropiate exit, but then camping stations would be more complicated, woulnd't it?

So, pro tip: when undocking your snailboat from Jita and going to Perimeter, warp to the planet first. Or set up a bookmark aligned to the exit if you're really using that a lot.

The stations could use a few changes. I'm not sure about removing items from them. Changing the models of the iconic Jita station is not something to be taken lightly. I assume you are talking about the Jita station with the big wall. Another thing to remember about the stations that have collisions when trying to align off the undock is these are "Safe stations." By safe I mean you can undock, see what the undock looks like and safely dock right back up after the docking timer has expired.

I would love to see undocks at all NPC's station spit you out at something like 30km but keep it so you have to be at 0 to redock.. that would make things a lot more fun.

As for players stations, keep them how they are.

This was bound to happen after they got rid of scotty, he was keeping this **** together. I propose to petition CCp to bring scotty back..........

You're right, there aren't quite enough reasons to stay docked.

The good people in the ingame Mining chat channel had the same discussion going a few days back.

is it not time for a redesign of the major hub trading stations?

The Jita station 4-4 for example could use a multiple exit point to make it easier on the people who undock there.
But also the stations of Dodixie, Amarr and Rens or Hek could use an update of this, making them stand out as true trading stations.

To make it more interesting CCP could perhaps make a contest of it , letting people design stations as how they think it should look like. Surely there are enough artistic people in EVE that are happy to show there skills for this :)
And of course CCP's own Art Team could have a go with it and amaze us!

I would love to see this going public and brought into action, how 'bout it? :)
