I sincerely hope not, I've been using a mac client since I first started playing 2/3 years back. I doubt i'm alone. I do wonder how many players are mac based.

I have heard no such rumors, and know several of the CCP guys play on Macs as well.

Actually. It's confirmed CCP is stopping support,

Why have they not fixed an issue which causes EVE to be unplayable after I have received the issue for over a week?
Why have they taken a while to respond to these issues?
How comes 'stuck' is more important than being unable to even access the game completely?
Why does it take a long time to even receive an update or response to an issue?
I once had to ask for 2 days SP reimbursement because it took CCP that long to even reply and my skills ran out.

The 5 states above show CCP is not stopping support for Mac.
Yet CCP has not replied to this thread yet.

I actually think they are trying if you notice all the patches being applied. I have not crashed for a while now and I think it is pretty much fixed.

Yeah since Odyssey I have had odd issues like item images showing as all sorts of odd images and or just a scrambled mess.... which was ok I could deal with it even though it was annoying as hell.

But now the game is just real choppy it used to only be that way on the gate jumps since they added that new animation. But now it's just all over the place and the client crashes.

So I rebuilt my machine thinking that was part of the problem and no such luck.

So Bootcamping it until I buy a gaming PC .. what a shame.

CCP would rather do something bad than nothing at all; the opposite of all things Apple.

There is no indication from CCP that they will drop Mac support, quite the opposite.

They have taken the time to define the new minimum specs for Mac hardware. Why do that if they are going to drop the Mac?
They have rolled out the new launcher for the Mac. Why do that if they are going to drop the Mac?

The Mac client works just fine for me. Yes I get a freeze maybe once or thrice a week. (The other day I had a doozy: The screen went black and the computer re-booted, all on its own.) But the PC users in my alliance seem to have an equal number of crashes. I can see my probes and all my icons are just fine. I can triple box on my MBP. I get the feeling that the state of the Mac client I see is what most Mac users see. That is: a basically functional client.

The fact the client works for me indicates the client is in fact functional. If the client is "unplayable" then how can I play on it for hour after hour without a problem? If you got issues maybe it is due to something other than the client. My guess is that is why you have not heard from CCP about resolving your problem. It is not due to a bug in the client, hence they cannot reproduce it or fix it.

That said, a native OpenGL client would make a fair number of issues disappear immediately.

CCP collects hardware information; it would be interesting to know if they can tell a Mac running Parallels or Boot Camp from a PC. If so, they'd have a much more accurate number for their Mac using playerbase--not that I think that they'd magically discover some huge number or anything, it's just that more accurate numbers are always better, and even people running EVE in Boot Camp would likely switch to the Mac client if it were native.

Also there does appear to be a graphics issue with those using 10.8.x. I think everyone with the probe bug uses it, and CCP has acknowledged the issue, but given no ETA.

Although the client is functional, it requires eliminating all other internet activity to be functional. Just web surfing invites a freeze. Why should this be? Yes we can do the work around on our end by staying off the internet, but should it be that way?

I also have an issue that prevents me from updating the client at all. GM's reply was like "unfortunately it will likely remain unsuppported" which sounds like "eat our sh*t and we don't f***ing care" to me. Yeah the typo was made by the GM, too.

I'm downloading the client, again. Hopefully it will finish by tomorrow when I returned from work. It won't surprise me if CCP stops supporting Mac clients now.
