It's an easy fix. I hope you're a computer person.

CCP stores the settings information in c:\users\(your username)\appdata\local\ccp\eve...

Now is where it gets interesting, replace the dots with the directory of where your game is located on your system so, if it is in: c:\program files\ccp\eve you would see c:\users\(your username>)\appdata\local\ccp\eve\c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility

with this new patch, it seems to have screwed it up so that it looks like this:
c:\users\(your username)\appdata\local\ccp\eve\c_proga~1_tranquility

Like in the old dos days. Take the "settings" directory and copy it to the settings directory in the screwed up directory and everything will be corrected.

Good luck!

Or you just quit and start up again, that is supposed to work as well.....

The settings haven't been deleted or anything like that. The issue is that the EVE Launcher is started with what's known as a short path; this causes you to end up with a path name like "progra~1" instead of "program files". The fix is to simply restart the EVE Launcher. The restart should correctly load the long, full path name instead of the short one, allowing the EVE client to load the correct settings.

This did not help me. Have tried several times. What can I do next?

As a workaround you can copy your original settings to the newly created 'short path' folder:

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3066962#post3066962

When the launcher problems are fixed, settings will once again be loaded from the full path folder. At that point you might need to copy settings from the short path to the full path (if you've changed anything).

If restarting works its a better solution. But understanding where settings are stored and what has caused them to disappear is no bad thing. In particular you will now know how to backup settings, import them from your TQ to SiSi client or from one machine to another etc.

What do we do if the game is installed through Steam? Just start the game and see?

Getting one person to actually do this launcher update on their own computer would have found this problem.

I don't pay money to ccp to do 'workarounds', it needs to work. Full. Stop.

Thank you for the quick response, but shouldnt this have been tested beforehand? It seems like everyone I have spoken to had had this problem. How did it pass Quality Assurance?

It would have saved me from cursing out CCP so many times in mumble before someone pointed me to this easy solution.

What's the point? Could have just deployed this the day before Odyssey instead of having us wait 2 weeks without a scenic Log in screen and with a broken launcher.

CCP really needs a marketing advisory team.

And yet, how many patches do we go through that reset ALL of our UI settings?

This is getting tiresome....

Good thing i have found the folder that contains the entirety of user preferences and UI elements.

Now i just have to remember to copy/save it every night before DT incase there is a surprise launcher update that tanks my settings....but that would never happen, right?

The repair tool works, but the settings get reset. CCP may want to see if a line or two of code got missed. This is not a huge deal, but better advertising for this simple fix would go a long way towards easing off some pressure.
