This hole API reader thing is a load of **** and pilots are using it to scam people. Dont send isk to pilots that claim to be giving isk for isk deals. It looked all good to me then i gave 50mill isk. and sat waiting for my 300 mill in return. Did i get, hell no i didn't. And yet the api reader claims i did get it

I've seen this too. To clear up this post for newbies out there:
Some ISK Doublers (who are ALL scammers) will put a link in their advertisement or bio linking to eve-api.com as "proof" of their legitimacy, asking you to send 1 ISK and seeing if it pops up. What eve-api actually does is "filters" which transactions are shown so the scammer appears legit.

The website is a scam site, set up to redirect you to battleclinic (a legit website) when you click the "home" button. It's similar in concept to spam emails that claim to be from gaming websites (WoW/LoL/Diablo etc) that have hyperlinks to the scammer's site under the guise of the legit page.

I would have thought abusing the concept of an API tracker like this is against the ToS somewhere but I suppose not.

The whole eve-api.com is based on this type of scam, and probally maintained by the scammer(s) himselves/themselves.

Or CCP can just block/blacklist the some sites in the ingame browser. Not that it'd help much.

Or you can send them 0,1 ISK with scam warning in the description.

This is why it's so very important to choose a legitimate isk doubler for your needs. I'm glad we have rooted out some that might not be so that we can focus on the legit ones.

Other than me, does anyone know of an honest doubler? We should make a list.

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

Yes, its the APIs fault you fell for a scam.

Indeed, all the APIs fault.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

You're missing the point - API's are a very good way to check background info on a character (their history, wallet, skills etc.). Because eve-api.com is presented as an API-reading website, newer players who don't know to look for a scam, but maybe know about APIs, get tricked.

Yes, the OP should know all ISK doublers are scammers (including and especially Erotica1), but he probably saw his 1 ISK pop up and figured it was a proper API reader
