EVE Launcher / EVE won't start post-patch

I copied this from another post (credit goes to the guy who actually come up with the help). I had to go into my Bin folder and run the ExeFile directly from there. It simply bypasses the launcher and takes you directly into Eve. Works like a charm.

***ATTENTION*** -- TEMPORARY FIX

Repair and play.

1) C:\CCP\EVE\repair.exe

1a) If the repairer fails - re-run it until it completes.

2) C:\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe

The game should load and let you connect without issue..

DO NOT under any circumstances re-run the patcher or this will break and you will have to do it over again.

-=-=-=-

Note - This took me about 5 minutes for the repairer to run.

I believe the problem is with the content server.

When you run the launcher, it attempts to grab content... since the content server is currently having it's problems (extremely slow load for some, no load for most). Several different errors are being reported, like "Offline Mode", "My Launcher Just Took a Crapper!", and so on and so forth.

The easiest way to work around this issue for now is to skip the launcher and run "ExeFile.exe" which is found in:

Program Files/EVE/bin/
-or-
Program Files (x86)/EVE/bin/
-or-
**YourSpecificFolder**/EVE/bin/

It's likely when you run this file, you will get to your login screen, but still unable to login because your EVE Client hasn't properly updated since the patch.

To resolve this, navigate directly to your "repair.exe" file and run it. The repair file can be found in your Program Files/EVE/ directory. The repair tool should detect that your version of EVE is out of date and then update. Luckily the files needed to update your game are not found on the content server. Once updated, you'll still need to bypass the EVE Launcher because the content server is the core problem, and run the ExeFile.exe from the /EVE/bin/ directory.

Unfortunately, the repair tool fails too.

From the repair exe log either:

TypeError: __init__() takes exactly 6 arguments (2 given)

or

urllib2.URLError: urlopen error timed out: 'http:client.eveonline.com/patches/repair_info.txt' (that one is slightly modified because of forums)

And yes, running eve.exe directly gives me that incompatible protocol thingie.

Brilliant. I had already run the repair tool (twice, because the first failed) and still got Offline Mode. But opening the ExeFile directly brought me to the login screen, which successfully let me log in to my character.

Thank you.

This had also happened to me, but it worked the second time. There was initially a window asking about updating the repair tool. I clicked no the first time, then yes the second. Did you get that?

I doubt that the restart I did between the two attempts matters, but I did that too.

Same here.

When I start, got a "exception" box telling me

"No connection could be made to the content server. Please make sure that your Internet connection is up and restart the Launcher."

If I choose "ok" nothing happen and if I choose "start EVE" game start at the logging screen but server status is

"incompatible (protocole)"

and the connection failed.

Works fine before downtime.

Hoping you ll find soon a solution.

edit:
same issue when directly launch with the EXEfile

Exactly the same issue for me, here. Launcher is "OFFLINE MODE" and "bin eve.exe" bypasses the launcher yet it will not get any further than the Log In screen.

This might sound strange to some... but the addage "doing the same thing over and over again, while expecting different results...." is probably the best way to go.

The root problem doesn't appear to be with the launcher, but the server(s) that the launcher is trying to connect up with. And since the CCP servers appear to be up and running (poorly for plenty of us), it's only a matter of time or "the Internet fixing itself" that you'll end up with sucess.

Hang in there bud. Big smile

Same problem here. None of the posted workarounds are working for me .

No connection could be made to the content server. Please make sure that your Internet connection is up and restart the Launcher.

For some reason I can't access http://client.eveonline.com through my webbrowser. But if I use a proxy I can reach it.. Someone seems to have messed up a cable somewhere... tracert shows the full way to the resolved ip with reasonable responsetimes, httping on the other hand yields only a few answers with most ping requests timing out.

Cripes. It feels like I get hit by every single one of the mass client issues. Doing constant repairs and fresh installations is stress I certainly need to participate in an activity I do to unwind. Don't get me started on how often my settings disappear.

Any chance of a ninja patch or am I screwed? I've already attempted all of the workarounds.

My repair tool doesn't even work.

I run it, the process exists, however it does nothing.

ie. no pop up like it used to do ~_~. Have reinstalled the repair tool, still nothing.
