Me? no grief. I've never been involved with you guys before. I've seen hundreds of posts over the years about the recruitment scam tho.

You're quoting what I said you would find - faceless alts parroting the same thing over and over. Other than that you quote an old page from our wiki last changed in like 2009. The front page of our site (2013) says:
Quote:
Applications will require a sponsorship key from a recruiter. You should have been given one of these already; if not ask your recruiter. Your application will be processed by our team of magic robots, and will usually process in 24 to 48 hours.

Most applications will require some form of security deposit, as calculated by the risk of your account being a spy. This deposit (if any) will be refunded in 30 days of non-spy behavior, or if you choose to leave us earlier (Please don't leave us, we love you!)

What this guy did, was instead of talking to his recruiter he ran off to find another one because he didn't want to wait. In doing so, he ran into some people who were upto no good AND gave his actual recruiter a massive problem to unpick.

The instructions are really simple, instead he seems to think the world revolves around him and our procedures need to be circumvented.

But yes, this thread is evidence of us changing to be more welcoming to people who want to join us .. though frankly everytime someone like Lord Vandurock comes and makes a giant public mess of it like this there's a lot of disagreement as to whether we should at all Sad

Ahh the joys of Impatience. I'm curious whats with the new doctrine? Has Mittens gone soft? You guys have a huge presence in eve and doesn't seem like your really hurting for numbers. An for real all of the previous recruitment scams were never actually authorized by upper management? How do you guys let something like that go on for so long without doing something about it?
As for the player your attempting to recruit maybe you shouldnt let him in. If he can't follow basic instructions to join then can he folllow basic instructions out in Null sec where your sov and moon goo is at stake?

I think I see what the problem is. My understanding is that the deposit amount is 500m isk. Not 300, not 450, etc.

Also, did you be sure you are signing up under the J4G program? I believe after you pay the refundable deposit and contract your items to your new home, you are asked to go to a specific website and introduce yourself.

Are you sure you have no assets left? Did check the assets screen? If you need help, I know some guys who are really good finding additional assets you may have forgotten. Contact me in game if interested.

Furthermore, I hate scammers, and I want to see you recover from this horrible ordeal. Perhaps you have isk that you have not considered? Did you check any balances on Eveapolous or Somer Blink? Did you check your other toons?

If you do manage to find isk, go ahead and play my game in bio. To help you out the most, I am hoping you have around 5 billion laying around somewhere that you forgot about. That my friend would get you a 25 billion isk payout. Just please post your results in the forum after ok? You can surely buy all your lost items and ships back with that after. Then we can talk about hunting down every single one who scammed you.

I am here for you friend.

Regards,

Ero

Law of large numbers, I'm afraid. Though hundreds of applications go without a hitch, it's the one where it all goes wrong and someone is out of pocket that makes it to the forums. I'm sure if everyone who joined with no problem made a post about it, the pervasive image of GSF would be better than Eve-university.

The worst part of the whole thing, really, is you get people like Mallak who probably spend 5x more time helping people who just won't follow instructions than they do actually playing the game themselves, and these people still decide the right thing to do is run to the forums and try to smear their name ... for whatever good that is meant to do them.

If Lord V ever gets back to us and sorts his **** out, I would hope the first thing he does is spend a week building newbee frigates and paying back the effort.

From my own experience, having started in EVE University in '08 and then joined Goonwaffe in '10 (after paying my 500 million ISK fee with no problems), both organizations are run by people who mostly post or delegate rather than do things in space. There would be no skill book program in E-UNI, no ship replacement program in GEWNS, and no functioning alliance in either regard if not for the people who tirelessly work behind the scenes to provide logistics and herd cats. Jump bridges need fuel; reimbursement requests need verification; payouts need to be authorized; applications need sorting; and so on. Newbies are the best part of EVE Online, and especially about both EVE University and Goonswarm, but as they say it takes the Village People to raise a child and there are many details, pitfalls and stumbling blocks.

I am space friends with everyone, especially newbies (and most especially newbies in Rifters), so I don't tend to assume any ill will on the part of someone else unless they make it clear. If there is any wrongdoing on the part of Lord V, then I am sure it was well-intended and that he will learn better once he's in a more supportive environment than C+P.

Another satisfied new Goonswarm recruit checking in!

All of this garbage about untrustworthy Goons is just like bad reviews anywhere else on the internet. When someone has a great experience at Pizza Hut, or gets a great new hair dryer online, you don't hear about it. Why? Because the person is off happily using their new hair dryer and eating pizza!! But, when someone has a lousy experience they post all over the internet about it screaming bloody murder!

Our corp's reputation is the same. Goon numbers speak for themselves! How could there be thousands of goons if they really screwed everyone who came their way??

Here's my story:
When I came to EVE I made some new friends and had some fun adventures, but I always heard about the Goonswarm and it sounded right up my alley - lots of PvP (always my favorite part of a new game Blink), friendly toons to hang out with at night, and just an all around tight group of people - kind of like the family that I don't have such a great relationship with in RL Ugh.

So, I talked to a recruiter, who made it clear that there were strict rules about joining up, and who TOLD me those rules in the first ten minutes of talking with me. I knew I'd need to pay a deposit. I knew I couldn't get impatient, or go over his head, or go running off screaming "GOONS SCAM" to whoever would listen. So, after having a great conversation with the recruitment associate, I decided to make the investment.

Since I had very little history, so I could have been a spy, I understood why I needed to get the 1 billion isk for the deposit. So, I took the plunge and traded for my deposit and submitted the isk. My recruiter explained that it would sit in the Goonswarm investment fund where it would actually earn interest before being returned. I was supposed to get my isk back in 30 days. But, after playing about 16 hours a day with my new mates in 0space, my deposit was returned early -- with interest (1.1billion total returned)-- after only 10 days. The Goons could tell I was a good fit as soon as we started flying together!

So yes, joining up with the Goonswarm requires some trust. But, wasn't I asking for quite a bit of trust in return? I immediately had access to corp hangers, the reimbursement system, bridges, cynos, an incredible forum and wiki setup, supercap locations, and other stuff I didn't even know existed in Eve until I started learning with Goonswarm. Trust goes both ways.

Now I'm happily recruiting other new high quality pilots that will be a good fit in our crew. Don't break the rules, do what you agree to do, don't cause a huge headache for me and my superior officers (who will have my ass for wasting my time and theirs fixing some stupid mistake made by a recruit) and don't be a spy. All pretty reasonable expectations from a corp with the this level of membership, quality, respect and responsibility to the entire universe of EVE.

Sure, bad experiences may sometimes happen. They always do, and the mark of a quality corp is what they do about it to get it resolved once the problem occurs. The reason we have such a rigorous recruitment process is to keep out the sort of garbage who might scam someone. So, we're all in this together.

Alright boys, I'll see you in nullsec -- if you can take the heat! BlinkBlinkBlink o7o7o7o7o7o7o7

I would like to hope that this is for real. Way back when I first started this game I worked my ass off to buy my first hulk, only to have it immediately stolen by goons. Nowadays I obviously don't give a damn about one hulk, but it is still ****** up to scam brand new players just wanting to pvp and find some friends.
