This is inappropriate for these forums.

All these posts and only one worth responding to.

It's only inappropriate if you're immature. Google define jerk and you get "a quick, sharp, sudden movement," pretty accurate for what my spaceship was doing.

I would have thought that the replies reminding you of how you were taught manual piloting in the tutorial would be worth at least a "thank you".

Remember to fly away from debris before trying to warp... this gives you time to shave the hair off your palms

Jerk off is indeed inappropriate, you'll want the normal jerk, but I guess being a jerk is all you'll ever be.

This.
The tutorial actually tells you about the doubl click to change course.

But as I said. I think reading and learning are two skills the OP hasnt trained yet.

Unfortunately, the one post you deemed worthy of response was just being sarcastic and probably was really mainly spreading the minerbumping info (which a particular group of players are really into) around as bit. I highly doubt that person was offended in the least. Cheers

Seriously this game should give you way to change your ship direction that doesn't limit you to approaching objects. This makes the game feel more like gimmicky RTS where you control a single unit than a role playing spaceship pilot
For example, they could make holding the 'W' key make your ship tilt upwards, 'S' tilt the ship downwards, 'A' tilt the ship to left and 'D' tilt the ship to the right. Then holding 'E' would make the ship accelerate, while holding 'Q' would make your ship decelerate. This would be a step towards making the player feel like an actual space ship pilot.

Eve's server works on 1 second ticks, so your flight model would not work the way you think and cause nothing but lag. Also you are a space ship captain, not a pilot. You order the things to happen and they do.

Also the way you have reacted in this thread tells me you probably won't be playing Eve for long as you seem to have a thin skin.

While the OP really should know that you can move around by double-clicking, I do agree that it is REALLY annoying when your ship insists on slowing down to 1-3m/s as you try to head for a wreck just because there's some Large Collidable 3km away.

Completely off topic (my reply), but thanks for this post. As a newbie I was wondering if it was an intentional thing or if I was experiencing lag for some strange reason. Nice for me to know now so that my curiosity is satisfied and I get +1 point closer to be less of a newbie... P Cheers! Cool

Shocked

Always thought it was a mistake that CCP took those out. Blink

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

This.

And also think about what the servers have to process in information if 40k (typical PCU in the weekend) were hammering their WASD keys...the game would be LAG online more then EVE online at that point.

There is a reason that EVE/DUST are the only 2 MMOs that share a single server while all the others have shitload of servers with even more instances.

Edit:

I agree with the prediction that OP wont last long in EVE judging by the responses (thin skinned) and the wrong exspectation about what EVE is (EVE is more a tactical sub sim then it is a twitchy fast paced dog fighting flight sim)

You actually read the skillbooks? How planet-bound.

It was more in the context of needing to read the name of the skill book to determine what it will do upon injection ;) How will he know which one to inject if he hasn't learn to read, with reading ability allowing him to determine how to follow the tutorials, alas he can't learn to read until he learns to learn...
