As the former CEO of Goonswarm and outstanding member of the Eve Online Community I can assure you that there must be some misunderstanding. The Goonswarm Federation alliance does not condone scamming and find such activities to be deplorable.

No he was the one that helped me figure out the entire scam.

Hello,

I recently have fallen victim to a GSF recrutiment scam. I learned this after talking with an individual by the name of Neuntausend.

I advertised myself in the recruitment channel and was contacted by Bella Govlia. He chatted with me awhile and answered any questions that I had pertaining to the corp. After this he provided me a sponsership code. The application code was 05ef220f19eea3bb. It worked on the Goonfleet.net. I was asked to provide a security deposit of 300m, API key, and contract my items to Bella Govlia so that she could get my items sent to a freighter to be transported to 0.0. I traveled to Jita, because this is where Bella advised me to go, and contracted my items to him. All of this took place on Friday 17 May 2013. After sometime I checked on Goonfleet.net and noticed that my application was accepted and proceeded to place an in-game application. This was rejected. After nurmerous attempts at reaching Bella, I finnaly was able to and he stated that he needed to move into Escalated status. I waited for sometime and tried to contact Bella but he was not returning my messages.

I then proceeded to contact another GSF individual by the name of Voyager Arran. I asked him if he could help me with the status of my applicaiton and provided him with my app code 05ef220f19eea3bb. He then informed me shortly thereafter that my application was on hold because it was flagged as a pontential spy. I was confused, as I have only been in 4 different corps in my lifetime, to be accused of this. He said that a higher official said that I could still join if I provided an addtional 400m. (I did not have the cash for this so I had to purchase PLEX in order to provide this payment.) I had thought at first that he had ment that my deposit would increase by 100m. I sent him this and he flammed me saying that it was 400m. I then sent the 300m and he informed me that the application should be completed shortly and told me to go ahead and submit yet another in-game applicaiton. It was rejected shortly thereafter. All of this occured on Saturday 18 May 2013. I contacted Voyager Arran on Sunday and he informed me that it was because the "higher official" was aggrivated by the chat logs and want me to pay an additonal 100m. I proceeded to with the promse that Voyager Arran would help me get the money back once I arrived into 0.0.

Confused by this I began searching for another representative to talk to. I am worried about my items and am sitting in Jita with no cash and a pod. I am also begining to become skeptical of what is happening with my application. i spend all day 19 may 2013 Sunday trying to get in touch with Bella. I never am able to reach him and figure that maybe he is just away. I am able to get in touch with Mallak Azaria. He is friendly and informs me that both Bella Govlia and Voyager Arran messed up on the security deposit. He informs me that because of upcoming wars the security deposit is doubled. My current security deposit was 800m and this would sky rocket it to 1.6b. Since I was eager to join GSF I purchased 2 plex to cover the 800m cost. Mallak informed me that he would cover 200m of it so I would only have to provide 600m. My current security deposit is 1.4b. After completing this Mallak assured me that everything will be taken care of and that I can submit my in-game application within the next 10 min. I proceed to do so, but realize that my Goonfleet.net application is still stating that my application is in an escalted status. Mallak has logged off and I am under the assumption that the application will rejected again. It was rejected sometime after.

On 19 May 2013, Sunday night, I contact a GSF player who puts me in touch with Menju. I am relieved at first because he seems to know what he is doing. He explains that Mallak did not send the 600m that I sent him to the corp wallet yet. He says that I can either wait for him to send the funds or pay the 600m and the application can go through then. I contemplate and come to the decision that I would rather just pay the funds and get reimbursed by Mallak. I only had 465m at this point and Menju said that 450m was fine and was approved by other officials. After sending him the money, I awaited for my now 4th application to accepted, but to my avail it was rejected when i checked on 20 May 2013 Monday.. My application on the Goonfleet.net site still stated that my application was in escalation.

I am able to find through online searching the GS_HELP channel in which I browse through individuals until I find yet another recruier. This individual was named Fax Mora. He proceeded to tell me that my items were still in shipment and that was the cause of my applicaiton being in escalation. I somewhat understand, until he presumes to tell me that I have been chosen to be a canidate for a supercap fund. He explains it in terms of investment, but says that I have to send the money to a character that has existed for 2 days. I dont buy it and quickly decide to find a random person in GS_HELP and just ask if they can get me in touch with a recruiter. The character that I contacted was Cascoine, who put me in touch with Neuntausend.

I explained Neuntausend my situation and he quickly informed me that the individuals Bella Govlia and Menju were not even involved in the recruitment process. I did not even explain the other two individuals to him. He stated that if I provided them any money that it was a scam. I pretty much about broke my computer when I found this out. He apologized for the entire event and sent me to these forums to post my experiance. He said that it baffled him that even the application code was valid enough to state that it was escalted. All of the inviduals that I spoke with had recuritment information inside of their bio as well which made it more believable. I am now out of $55.00 USD and 1.85b as well as all of my items.

Thanks for the chuckle.

This could be fun.

At a cursory glance, it looks like you were trying to force an application by running around and contacting people who weren't even related to the pending application and getting them to sign off on it. This is usually very, very suspicious behaviour.

Hopefully someone has the complete picture and can unpick this, but it looks very much like you're just trying to cover your ass for your own misconduct.

I was contacted by a Goon representaive from the get go... They had my items contracted and I was left in a pod unable to do anything. Of course I am going to try and find a rep. that can help me. This was a scam that there wasnt anyway to know really that it was one. I just wanted to make sure that everything was proceeding with the application so I could resume gameplay. Any player in my situation would have been trying to do the same thing, not just sit around and wait. I do not understand what exactly I would be covering considering these events. A rep. is there to contact about any recruiting needs, correct?

No need for name calling here guys we're in desperate need of fresh blood. We should be helping this gentleman get his application materials to the proper place rather than tearing him down. What would Jesus do? That's what I always ask myself before making a post and maybe some of you could stand to learn a bit from that example.

No, none of this is right, how do you think it could be?

We have a very strict recruitment procedure and very strict guidelines against scamming, but as soon as you run into a public chat and start asking around for someone to give your ISK to .... well, not everyone can be trusted. I mean, reports show that over 75% of businesses experience employee fraud, and this is in the real world, with real jails to be sent to - how far do you think you can trust random, anonymous, internet persons when they contact you after you walk in waving your money around?

None of this is right, you don't just try jumping over your recruiter the first time you need to wait more than 5 minutes for a response.

Hopefully (for your sake) there's a paper-trail that shows this is legit, because it's going to be very, very hard to unpick the truth given you've just been running around contacting everyone and anyone you could find and giving them money and generating new/different applications.

Surely at some point we would need to work out if it's even worth the effort?

There's like 10 people from our organisation in here trying to make this right, what the **** nonsense is this? Funnily enough, when enough people parrot a lie, it looks real. You'll notice most are faceless alts. Roll

Or you could use logic and realise the largest organisations in the game probably didn't get that large by not recruiting.
