I do so love it when clueless third parties assign my motivations for me.

See, I got a new job. The nature of this new job doesn't really inhibit my ability to communicate with CCP - I get many opportunities throughout the day to keep tabs on and chat in our communications channels - but it would rather hinder the other officially defined job of the chairman, which is to act as a public face. Given the importance of that function (and, thus, the importance of the chair) I felt it prudent to step aside, grudgingly, and allow someone who was able to give it their full attention to take the seat instead.

So if I read the OP correctly, he is mad because the csm treated the officer positions as meaningless when he posted before hand that they were meaningless?

Sounds to me like they were just following your advice.

It gives a structure to the CSM more than just "Here's 14 people. Herd them CCP, and good luck."
Structure that isn't codified is not structure at all.

Utter tripe.

In this specific case the roles create a set of expectations as a default person to go to get tasks done, rather than the diffuse responsibility that ends up creating the "somebody else's problem" syndrome. Even if the person charged with the role fails to accomplish, its easier to identify and get someone else to step up.

The only end-game content in EVE Online is the crap that makes you rage quit.

It was a little confusing. Thanks for clearing it up.

Your candor about the reasons and the fact that you took it seriously enough to take yourself out of the running under the circumstances are much appreciated, by me at least if no one else.

Mynnna's respect for the position was well regarded within the council as well.

I have worked on team projects before, some where everybody milled about and nothing got done because nobody said what needed to be done. Others there was no need for a leader because we all worked well together and automatically took the tasks we were best suited to do. I am sure some of you have had the same experience, both ways. My inistial impressions of this CSM is we want to work, Trebor will not need a whip to get us moving but maybe a leash to keep us from running to far ahead.

Trebor is Chair.

We decided it.

Doesn't mean any of the rest of us will work any less or any harder. Doesn't mean that we need to change the rules so he cannot be Chair since it wouldn't exist any more, that would be petty.

The best reason for the Officer Roles? So there is someone to blame when something does not get done. Hell, I thought most of the forum types would appreciate a well defined target.

This. We decided it. We discussed it, we came to a conclusion that everyone (or everyone that said anything, I mean I don't know, I'm not a mind reader) agreed with, we voted, the decision was made.

It's transparently obvious the PS is just upset because (1) Trebor and (2) there wasn't a dramatic catfight for him to ~srsblog~ about.

It's also probably a bit off-putting to have how little influence he has made abundantly clear, too. Blink

It's obvious he has huge influence and all the decisions made by the CSM have been made only with the intention to spite him in mind.

Please carry on, nothing to see here. Though yeh, I'll add.... Goons reputation of dictatorship, PR censorship and total control has really been hurt in this thread! Nearly makes you guys come across as a lubly cuddly group of gamers who play internet spaceships and actually have fun! Oops

Inducing the proliferation of common sense throughout EVE Official forums since April 27th, 2013.

I do not care what title, if any, any person on CSM 8 has, or does not want.

I am only interested in how well they work with CCP to further improve our game.

This is not a signature.
