Feeling content has a lot to do with doing the things you like to do. You can go on a roam with Pleniers, do gangs with Bull and Sygma, go on the adrenalin rush stuff of the late US TZ or sit on your fat a**e ganking stuff in K-Q and it's environs. It's very much up to you and so long as you are having fun and exploding considerably more pixels than you are losing. it is all pretty much good.

It helps if you are the sort of person who can make stuff happen rather than just waiting for someone to entertain you but I kinda like it here and maybe you would too.

I've written about our love of the fat kid in the past, so it should come as no surprise that I have another story to share.

We have a couple alliances around that love to roll through heavier than any resistance. Inevitably, these types of gangs lack precision organization. There is usually someone who jumps a bit late, warps a couple seconds after the call, or is generally not paying attention. While we don't have the numbers to stand toe to toe with the blobs, we gladly pick off the stragglers.

Scouts picked up the 23-man gang moving towards our home system. The half dozen or so of us active grabbed assault frigs and moved into some off-grid locations. We put a cloaked heretic into the system one jump beyond ours in the direction they were travelling. We watched them move through system, verifying that, as expected, they had a couple fat kids. As the gang jumped out of our system, we warped our small gang to the gate behind them. As soon as the main gang went to warp in the neighboring system, the heretic decloaked and dropped the bubble. Bang. There he was. A lone zealot was left sitting still in the bubble wondering WTF just happened.

We jumped in, grabbed point, and began tearing through his heavy armor tank. Watching d-scan, we waited to see his buddies come back for the rescue (they had four logi). Their sabre returned for a quick looksee, then decided the zealot was on his own and bailed back out. Eventually, the zealot died, and we sent his pod back to medical. Maybe his next clone will pay more attention to FC orders.

Back in the swing of things

Living in my part of the world I am hampered by cold from November through March followed by April rains, with only a two month period of nice weather before the sweltering heat of the summer. Since I am currently in the nice weather cycle I am excited to have this time to spend some time outside, light a fire, drink some beer, and ride my bike. The one thing I don’t have time for is EVE.

Last night I worked in the yard, did some martial arts, and ate dinner with the wife. I thought I would treat myself to some good old fashioned eve killing. Due to most of the guys having the same weather as myself, our numbers have been a bit low as of late. It isn’t a bad thing; we DO need to get out of the house once in a while. Seriously…we do. We have some serious momma’s basement dwellers in A4D.

We had about an hour, we started by heading to Doril to see what trouble could find. We ended up running into the tail end of a Tornado/Scimitar fleet in RMOC. Since we were in only in 5 T1 Cruisers we decided take a pass knowing that we didn’t have the DPS to kill ANY of them before we were mowed down. Our fleet did a 360 and turned around and went the other way, going into K-Q and warping to the CL gate, a hurricane jumped into us. So we busted his arse.

*snip*Posting of kill reports outside of the Crime & Punishment forum channel is prohibited. ISD Ezwal

We then decided to go to see what Brick Squad was doing in upper curse. By now we had picked up a few more ships. 5 Caracals, 1 Tornado, 1 Rupture with a Stiletto and Scythe catching up. I got stuck with being scout so I jumped in and looked around. I jumped into G-O and saw only a scout. I warped over to their home system and poked my nose in. I was in the middle of a large bubble. A scan revealed Heavy Interdictor, Gnosis, Talos, Machariel, and a few other things.

I slow boated back to the gate knowing that I may draw one out. When a Talos landed on the gate I goosed my MWD and jumped back in to G-O , aligning back to our gate. After about 30 seconds the Gnosis jumped in and I warped to the out gate at 20. I hit approach, and started slow boating to the out gate. The Gnosis landed at the gate at zero, and started locking me up as I made it look like I was running.

Then he made a rookie mistake, he actually attacked me. I webbed and scrambled him, and called for the rest of us to jump. We applied maximum Peni5; as the Gnosis was hitting structure our brilliant FC called for alignment toward the star. We all warped out before the gang arrived. We weren’t prepared to fight them with them having 3x our firepower and 3x our logistics. We were going to wait it out but they brought out scan probes. We warped to the NPC station and took a small beer break. When we returned they were gone.

Ganking can be fun if you out smart your enemy. That is why I dislike gate camping. It isn’t rocket science to overwhelm someone with force. It takes a superior mind set to snatch victory out from under the nose of a superior fleet. Anyone can win the ones they are supposed to, but we only had a short amount of time to stick the knife in before our ultimate demise. It is nice to back into the swing of things.

What sort of weekend have we had? well all things considered a pretty good one. According to DOTLAN our home system has been the third most violent system in 0.0 over the previous 24 hours (at the time of writing) with over 500 incidences of internet pixel destruction in that period.

Saturday was a bit slow. Agony had decided to put a large tech 2 bubble on the very large constellation get in Hemin and it was slowing movement down. My scout watched as a gang of russian Caracals tore it down. Much like the northern lord in the Holy Grail, who built his castle on a swamp, they put up another. We went and took it down, so they put up another one. In an attempt to repeat our glorious success we went back and they were waiting for us and simply had too much of everything. A little while later they became bored of the bubble so started to unanchor it. At this point somebody's mum probably called them in for dinner and they left their large tech 2 bubble floating in space, so we pinched it.

The evening was still quiet so much against my better judgement (as I have already been on two roams this year) I went on a roam with my North American corpmates. We ended up in Providence where we killed a few bits and pieces and made the schoolboy error of spending too much time in one place and allowing the blob to find us.

Sunday was pretty much relentless. It started with the usual diet of unwary travellers and people who believe that putting a cloak on anything in Curse will save you at a gate. Sometimes it does but eventually your luck will run out or Thabela will come back from his afk.

Thereafter it just seemed never to stop. Small gangs running through and fights happening or not. Covert Ops ships running through and leaving behind their Sisters' probe launchers and even a demand for a refund from one person we encountered. As the USTZ started logging in we were able to field bigger gangs and take some of the larger fights with mixed success. The highlights of the day were a pair of Tengu kills. One who lost his to a couple of destroyers and frigates and the other a much better kill in the middle of a very confused three or four way fight around our bubble.

All in all as I headed to bed I was a very happy camper.

Another Fantastic weekend

All and all the killing in Curse was pretty darn good. All and all it was in the neighborhood of 200 kills and 8 billion isk worth of kills. Although we will not eclipse the March 2013 kill totals, we should minimally match April 2013 kill totals which should land us around 1500 kills for the month. I do want to take some time to thank our European members as these numbers wouldn’t be fathomable without the consistent dedication to carnage that they consistently maintain.

Even though we are a 70% North American corporation, our top three in volume are none other than Mellivora Capensis, Thabela, Master Andrew with Reemos and Pleniers coming in at 6 and 8 respectively. They are on track to completely push everyone from the North American time zones below the “You Suck Line” (Those members that didn’t kill enough to get any loot re-distributed to them).

My God we have some talent

Being a CEO is not always a fun Job you have to watch the money, watch membership, deal with standings, be everyone’s logistic b!tch, etc etc. It can especially be tough right after a recruiting drive. Sometimes you get guys in that were once big alliance lemmings and they don’t know how to function in an environment where you have to think for yourself. In essence, for every one good guy you typically get two window lickers.

During this recruiting drive, we managed to bring in 6-7 members. Normally that would mean that have two that live in their mothers basement. I know, I know…Sygma aren’t you are being a bit harsh? Uhh no, the “artard” level s are off the charts in this game. All joking aside, I can honestly say that I don’t have a single newer member that I consider a “window licker”. In fact I all of our new guys are just flat out good.

For instance, I went out with a gang and hit my old hunting grounds; I did my best to describe who lives where, what they prefer to fly, who their alts are, and why I am doing what I am doing. We ended up killing 1 Falcon, 1 Bomber, 1 Omen, 1 Rupture, 2 T1 Frigates before heading back home and letting the East Coast people go to bed. My new guys go out 15 minutes later and kill half of Providence region.

They are THAT good.

I <3 Frigates

So what is a good fleet composition for a frigate fleet? The answer to that question depends on how many members you have available. If we have 15 people active we can do whatever we want with zero thought to composition. But if we have 5 to 7 active members we need to think things out thoroughly.

5 in fleet
The first thing we have to do is bring an Interdictor; preferably a sabre, but a Flycatcher or Heretic will do in a pinch. They just have less DPS than the Sabre. That allows you to have 3 DPS ships with short points and webs; and a Kitsune. The Kitsune is the most important thing in this fleet…it is the ONLY thing that gives you survivability. It also allows you to have a remote armor rep and or a remote hull rep on standby.

6-7 in fleet
Of course you HAVE to bring your interdictor. But having the extra fleet members allows you to bring Logistics ships instead of the Kitsune. The Kitsune is a great ship and you can still bring it, but the Logistics can keep Harpies, Hawks, and Jaguars alive with relative ease. A typical fleet with 6 is 1-2 Scythes, 1 Sabre, 3-4 Blaster Harpies. The only problem with this change is that now you are going from a Frigate roam to a Frig Cruiser roam and you WILL have 3-4 guys wanting to upgrade to cruisers instead of frigates.

You will get fleet creep. No not the naked guy living in his parent does basement playing eve, but a few guys want to catch up. If you tell them to come, tell them to bring a frigate, don’t let them try to catch up in a Cruiser. Although I love cruisers, frigates are superior in every way when catching up to a fleet. It is typical in the A4D world to start out with 5 members and end up with 10. It’s a good problem to have.

These are highly effective roam fleets. In fact last night we had one such fleet, we managed two bomber kills, a Cyclone, 2 Cruisers, 2 mining barges, before we were rudely camped into a system. You have to love Rebel Alliance of Blob Eden…camping 7 frigates a dead end system to show them that you don’t want them there. THAT IS Logic personified.

One last roam before the patch

It started out with Blythar and Han Lector and I going on a three man roam. With only 3 we decided on 2 Harpies and a Scythe; easy enough right? Before we hit the gate our gang increased in size to 3 Harpies, 1 Jaguar, 1 Flycatcher and 1 Scythe. The fleet blossomed into a full-fledged gank fleet. We set our first waypoint to Doril which ended up being four very uneventful four jumps other than a Cyno we found nothing.

We checked out the usual hot spots; Litom, JWZ and found nothing. We decided on try and pick a fight with initiative so we set waypoint to B-3. When I jumped in we noticed they had fleet a little larger than us but they had (From Memory) 2 Augorors, Guardian, Ishtar, Sacrilege, Abaddon, Heretic and Deimos. Not really what we were hoping to fight they had 3.5 times our DPS and rep power. We took a pass.

So by this point I have tried to pull people out of stations and off pos’s with zero success. We only had one thing left to do, set waypoint to HED-GP and see what we could find. Being the main scout I jumped into HED and scanned down a Sleipnir by the Keberz gate. I warped over to Keberz but there was nothing on grid. I sat there for a second when a Stabber Fleet Issue jumped in and warped toward SV5, this was the kill we were looking for.

I warped over to a tactical on the SV5 gate knowing our fleet was on the other side. When I came out of warp at 300 meters off the gate the Sleipnir was sitting 70km away and the SFI was at 0km from the gate. Then something happened that I didn’t expect, the Genos Occidare SFI warped directly to the AAA sleipnir at 0. They were together! The SFI started coming right for me so I aligned to the gate and when he got to 40 I warped, hoping to get him closer to the gate.

My dirty plan was coming together; the SFI warped down and followed me in to SV5. Thinking the Sleipnir would warp to the other side of the gate, I ran back to the gate to try and get a point on the sleip. As I jumped in the Sleip warped off just in time. BUT, we still had the SFI. Since we knew we would be split up. The 3 Harpies were to be on the HED-GP side and the rest would be on the SV5 Side of the gate.

The SFI jumped in and overheated away from us. We tried to catch him but could only muster a long point. About that time the sleipnir warped to the gate at 3 and started burning away from our group. Unlike the SFI, we caught the Sleipnir with ease. We continued hitting the Sleipnir hoping the SFI would show up and help him out. Our hope turned into reality, the SFI warped in and started targeting our one Scythe. This time I managed to get a web on the SFI slowing him down just enough to for us to get a short point on him. Now we had them both tackled.

Blythar kept his point on the Sleipnir while the rest of us pounded the SFI. As the SFI went down a Talos came in at range. We mostly ignored the Talos because he really wasn’t hurting any of us. As the Sleip reloaded charges into his ASB and repped himself to full shields the Talos stayed around 80km from us. We continued to pound the Sleip and when he ran out of cap booster and evident that he was going to go down, I went out to tackle the Talos.

With an overheaded point and our Scythe locked on to me I got a web and long point on the Talos. Karma landed on top of my and applied a short point. We had the Talos now. Although we ended up losing a Flycatcher and Harpy in the Fray, we ended up killing the Sleipnir, Stabber Fleet Issue and Talos. Not bad.

That is not where the fun ends. As I was scouting SV5 I noticed the Initiative armor gang passing through into W9. And wouldn’t you know it….they left a fat kid behind the Abbadon! I called in the fleet, and I got vaporized by the Abbadon before everyone landed. : )

Saturday started like normal, a few Russians camping in K-Q and it took us a while to round up enough to drive them out. Then a steady trickle of unwary pilots dying to our camp.

Just before down time a Tengu was spotted a couple of jumps out and he didn't seem to be cloaky. This was confirmed as he got closer and as we waited for him another target was spotted coming the other way. We got rid of that and before the bubble dropped the Tengu must have warped. He landed 25 km from the gate and someone got tackle on him. We managed to drop another bubble on him and chewed our way through his tank. It was only as we were dropping loot in the corp hanger that we realised that this one kill represented almost the May total in the loot hanger.

Many people ask us why we perma-camp K-Q.

Hmmmm can't decide between two different titles.
Be the Flea!!! Or if your only tool is a hammer then every problem looks like a nail.

We kill a lot of members of some really big alliances. Almost none of them have a positive kill board percentage against us. We kill them in our system, then we go to their systems and kill them there. We think very little of the alliance mentality and to be honest they think very little of us. Just last night we killed a gnosis, hurricane, sabre and Oracle with a 4 man cruiser gang.

We lost one fleet stabber not in the battle but as we tried to extricate ourselves from their system. Unfortunately the stabber pilot was heavily implanted which makes the lossmail look lopsided.

The rest of them warped out and we even complemented them for not blobbing us and bringing only 8 or 9 ships. We soon learned that the reason they hadn't blobbed us is they are really slow to form up. Finally they got their blob on and chased us relentlessly though their system. We are the flea. We are in fast we bite, and when things go well we are gone before the elephant wakes up.

So what happens when you **** off elephants.

We are hanging out in our home system making life miserable for as many as we can when up pops a mail saying something is under attack. We only have a single POS so we go check it out and sure enough the elephant woke up and since he wasn't agile enough to stomp the flea he attacks the only slow moving thing he finds, our Pos. So here is a carrier banging away at our pos. The hammer.

He was expecting a large armed response and the opportunity to blob in with overwhelming force with underwhelming talent to pay back these impudent fleas, that keep kicking their ass. We looked at our options. There were a few other alliances who were looking at coming to visit. We considered doing nothing, Pos's are cheap. But what we settled on was t1 frigates and destroyers. So we swarmed him with about 10 tiny ships and began sucking his blood.

Well this was not at all what he had hoped for. What do we do now. As expected the cyno went up, the megablob came in and the fleas went into the pos. The invading army scratched their heads, and their asses and went home. Apparently that is PVP in large alliances.

So you want large fleet warfare and POS defense, come to A4d, apparently we do it all!

“Dude, I am broke”

I have had no less than 5 members private message me saying that they were low on isk. Looking over the past year it is pretty obvious to me why the guys are broke. They have been pvping nonstop. And no matter how rich you are, if you take fights outnumbered as often as we do eventually you will lose ships. So we made a decision to help the guys make some isk.

So to make a little cash on the side we decided to halfheartedly join faction warfare. Mondays and Tuesdays will be faction warfare days and Wednesday-Sunday we will be back in Curse doing what we do best; killing internet spaceships. Although I have not been included in this month’s killing as much as I would like, some other A4D members are just killing everything in sight.

I am proud of this corporation and its members. We may not be flashy but we are effective.

Another successful roam

A4D has some high quality pilots, I was lucky enough to fly with two of them last night; the incredible Captain Mac and the illustrious Taint Scratcher. We decided to take some assault frigates around and see what we could find to kill. Since there were only three of us we really didn’t need an FC, but since I was elected as point man, we all knew who was going to die first.

Due to me scouting a lot lately, I have decided that for me to scout I have to have to fit my ship a bit different than I normally do. My requirements: Huge Buffer, Lots of Speed, Long Point. So I settled for a Jaguar that went well over 3kps, had 3k hp, and could fit a long point. Taint and Mac were short point web fit.. game on.

The roam was go simply go to Doril and see what we could find, then play it from ear from there. We first ran into a Thrasher and Ishkur that was more interested in talking about their awesomeness in local rather than actually fighting. We gave them the opportunity to take on our little fleet but they warped off and kept typing. Good story brah.

So I jumped into Jorund and wouldn’t you know it, there were 12 brick squad on the other side of the gate. They had a bubbler so I couldn’t just warp off…my only option was to get back to the gate. Although they had enough DPS to vaporize me, I made it back to the gate with only taking 10% shield damage. They all red boxed except for a Hurricane so I was home free.

We made the executive decision to head to Utopia, then Litom where we killed a poor Cyno ship. Yay? We then traveled about 5-6 jumps and ran into a Ares. I somehow managed to get a point and web on him and with the help of my cohorts in crime; we killed him and his pod. We then decided to travel to HED-GP. Along the way we killed another Cyno ship and tracked down a Cynabal.

The Cynabal started attacking what he thought was an alone Frigate. At the same time we jumped in to attack the Cynabal his friends jumped in from the out gate. The Cynabal de-agressed thinking that his buddies wouldn’t be there in time to save him. As the Naga and Hurricane came out of warp, we simply warped off as the Cynabal refused to point us.

Although we only had a couple kills, long after I went to bed Captain Mac and Taint managed a Stabber Fleet Issue, Maelstrom, Naga and Rapier kill….without me! It was a successful day in A4D.

Also, the first day in faction warfare seems to have went well, a large portion of the guys that went to fight for Amarr (farm missions for money)are already to level 4 missions and are supposedly making mad bank.

While Monday was the 1st day of our Faction Warfare trek, a few of us were still in Curse. I logged on to Pleniers of "Curses" fame asking if anyone wants to go roam. We decided on Scalding Pass and were about to head out when his scout found a cane in Utopia. We changed up into armor cruisers, him in a vexor and I in a navy Omen (Sorry Sig, grabbed the first one I saw wasn't intending to fly expensive). Plen's alt was in a Auguror. Plen followed the cane into Litum and was aggressed by the cane and two friends in an Algos and thrasher. Plen forgot to decloak his logi alt in Utopia and he was going down . Fortunately he realized what happened and got the logi into the battle. We killed the cane and somehow did not kill the dessys only ran them off. As cane went down a myrm and sacrelage landed. As Plen was in 15 % structure we decided to head back to k-q. Not bad, one cane down and roam hadn't even started. We got back to K-Q and were reshipping for roam when a 14 man frig/AF gang jumped into K-Q. Deciding to, as Plen say's "Go Balls Deep" we got into 2 drakes and a scythe. We aggressed the bad guys off the RMOC gate and the fun ensued. We first took down their sabre then went to work on the small stuff. Our logi didn't last long and went pop then Plen, I lasted long enough for Plen to reship and Bull joined us. We lost our 2 drakes and the scythe but that's what happens when you go balls deep!! We killed their sabre, enyo, wolf and 4 t1 frigs. The survivors had to do alot of repairing. We held the field and not only got the loot but came out with a 53% efficiency. Not bad for the first 30 minutes of logging into the game.

Another nice little roam

Since 60% of the A4D is doing faction warfare on Mondays and Tuesdays, the ones that remained in Curse (the ones that don’t need isk) decided to go on a tiny little roam. Cy in a shield rupture, Pleniers in a Moa, Stinky in a Taranis, and me in a Scythe we decided to go visit Darkspawn to see if we could pick a fight.

As we traveled down the pipe we ran into a vastly larger fleet with Logi and Falcons. To make the situation even weirder they had 2 Augorors, Broadsword, Drake and quite a few other typically shield tanked ships. As perplexed as we were to see a shield fleet with Armor logi, we ascertained that we had a low percentage chance of actually killing anything.

We finally made it to DarkSpoon space; Pleniers narrowly missed a tackle on a Navy Issue Raven. He chased it a few jumps but it logoffskied. He then tried to get a Tornado to aggress but as Darth Vader might have once said…The Vag is strong in this one. We finally ended up in the pocket near H6. Stinky and Plen were looking for targets.

We finally found one an enemy to play with, a Stabber Fleet Issue! Pleniers managed to get a tackle and called us in. Stinking got into web and scramble range trying to get under the SFI’s guns….ultimately realizing that the SFI was armor fit and he was trying to get under Dual-180’s. Oops. Somehow I managed to keep the Taranis alive…for now.

With the situation well under control, a second Dark Spoon warped in; a Gnosis. This was going to be a tough ship to crack. Although I found it very easy to keep the Rupture and Moa alive, the Taranis with no buffer or resists was virtually impossible. Stinky’s shields went up and down, up and down. He dipped into armor, full shields, then into structure full shields. And then it happened; we killed the Gnosis.

We looted up and met Pleniers on the out gate just as a Noctis jumped into us. Three kills. Not bad.

It was a funny weekend with big gangs rolling around and limited unwary travellers. Sunday saw a couple of choice gankage opportunities. Just after downtime a Rapier jumped into us and we got the decloak. The ship didn't last long and turned out to be properly fitted. As we were getting excited by the kindness of the loot fairies somebody linked the ]pod mail. I wasn't around in the afternoon but Andy won't shut up about the Kronos they got without me. Please don't ask me what he was doing wandering round Curse in that but simply accept that he was and thank all the gods that he wandered into us.

With individuals like those above I sometimes feel a little bit sorry for itinerant Iberian, Pleniers. As some may have seen from his videos he loves to roam and unusually in A4D that is contrary to the rest of his timezone. He is always logging on and asking who is coming for a roam to the sound of whistling and shuffling of feet. Well since the Odyssey update he's got really into scanning. This is partly so he can find other covert-ops ships running relic sites in his Helios and allow his drone of pwn to do its thing, partly so he can find wormholes to the ass-end of eve and roam there. He is always so excited when he finds a direct hole to the far end of the Drone Regions or whatever. He spends ages roaming round to get some really sweet kills and we just Jabba-camp and have plenty of people stumble into us.

I sometimes call it train wreck management. Last night this was how it went.

My eyes: Navy Raven jumped into 8G
All: You're joking right
My eyes: Warped to CL gate - got stuck in the OUCH bubble - warped off
All: This has got to be bait
My eyes: He's still in 8G seems to want to come our way
All; This must be bait but we gotta go to the 8G gate in case he warps back to the bubble
My eyes: Navy Raven warped back into the bubble
All: Jump, jump...............point......point......point

The nice bit was when we blew up his ship the pilot gave us permission to pod him. We should have waited and at least asked him why he had chosen to fly his shiny CNR through one of the most regularly camped parts of Curse in a PvE fit. With stuff like this going on it is small wonder that Plen finds it hard to find people to go on 50 jump roams.

When I write about what we do in A4D I tend to tell a story and tie it back into eve somehow. Today tieback is one of my favorite new television shows; new to me at least. Strike Back is a show that almost exactly like 24 but with more graphic violence, nudity, and more importantly Rhona Mitra (YUM), It is based on a secret team that goes around and saves Britannia from terrorist threats abroad. Yadda yadda yadda.

I find the two characters Scott and Stonebridge quite humorous; Scott is an Australian bloke playing an American, whereas Stonebridge is an American guy playing an Englishman. Although they do a fairly decent job with their accents, you can tell that they fudge up their pronunciations up every so often. Their overplaying of the stereotypes is quite humorous and to me it makes the show what it is.

I just finished watching season two and although season three is starting this summer, I am scrambling to locate the pilot series that was only played in the UK back in 2010. So if anyone can point me to a way to watch Chris Ryan’s strike back, I will be eternally grateful. Although there is no Rhona Mitra in the first season, season two at least has a great set with Connie Beauchamp…

Having played EVE since 2004; I have been blessed to be exposed to a wide range of people, culture and personalities. So I know what you are thinking. How the hell is he going to tie this back into Eve? Well I will tell you. We went on a roam last night breaking in a new scout and FC, we weren’t overly efficient at finding or killing anything, and all we ended up killing was a freaking T2 hauler with a TCU.

Since I like to write about what we did and how we do it, I find it extremely difficult to explain that our scout saw a Prorator, the Prorator jumped in, we bubbled him, decloaked him, and proceeded to kill him. That and Rhona Mitra is gorgeous. And now you have a new show to watch. And the hauler is dead. That is all, sorry for all the horrible writing, it is 8am and my brain is not working yet.

As Cypress Hill once sang, “when the sh!t goes down, you better be ready”

Pleniers scanned down a wormhole in Jorund that lead to Immensea; we hadn’t been there for a while so we were anxious to see what sort of trouble we could get into. Our gang was incredibly mediocre at best we went in with Enyo, Omen Navy Issue, Cyclone(With TD), Rupturex2, Vexor(With TD), Heretic and Exequror(With TD). Everyone had a fairly standard Armor fit but our only Ace in the Hole was the Cyclone.

The Cyclone had web, scram, energy neutralizes, tracking disruptor and gang links, so if we had an advantage it was with that Cyclone; it was the proverbial Swiss army knife. The roam started when we had a chance to grab a couple ratters but were thwarted as it took less time for the enemy to look at Local than it did for me to scan them down and warp to them. For goodness sake CCP, at least don’t have the person show up in local until they uncloak the first time. Give a brother a break hint hint.

We move down the pipe, I jump my trusty Enyo into the destination system and scan down a Dominix and Drake in an anomaly. Thinking I may need our Logi sooner rather than later I ordered in the Exequror to align to the anom. When I landed was 65km away, I overheated like a mad man and narrowly miss a tackle on the Dominix, I then have to burn an extra 20km to narrowly miss the tackle on the Drake. Then something happened that I didn’t expect. Our Logistics Pilot said “Domi on gate at zero”.

We sent in a tackler to force the Dominix to either fight or jump (into the rest of the gang)…he chose the latter. We took the Dominix down with little effort then re-approached gate. I jumped back in and noticed that they were now forming up. They were on station with 4-5 battle cruisers a Sabre and a couple frigates. The decision was made to not fight on the station as they would just undock a carrier or something similar. If they wanted to fight they had to come get us and show their hand.

We went down the pipe a bit and I ran into the gang that had been forming up (Jump Bridge). They had the same fleet but added one Scythe. Although we had slightly less DPS we figured we would try and take them. We tried to get them to fight on one gate, then the other but they kept warping in to pings like they just wanted to watch us all night or something. We tried to drop bubbles to catch them but they still were being “Just another fugging alliance”. Hun something or other…to us JAFA.

We set waypoint to HED-GP. As I jump into W9, I see a Cynabal attacking a stealth bomber; I go for the tackle on the Cynabal as he comes for a tackle on me. Before I could close range his 425’s were shredding me but I kept approaching. I hit deep armor, and called in the logi too late. The Enyo I was flying was significantly squishier than I thought it would be. He was hitting me with Barrage and I simply could not overcome the Explosive damage. Another great piloting job by WS26 a pilot I have a great respect for.

I head back to K-Q in my pod, the rest of the group continues on to HED-GP. Upon their return, they encounter WS26 and a friend, this time in a Cynabal and a Talos. Three of our guys burn out their MWD trying to hold the Cynabal down and weree forced to warp off, Our Exequror managed to jump out before being targeted by the Talos leaving our Cyclone on the gate alone.

Our Cyclone slowboats back to the gate; the enemy Talos and Cynabal strip the shields off of the Cyclone and came in close to web our Cyclone (yes web on a Cynabal). Once in Range, our Cyclone webbed, scrambled, and neutralized the Cynabal. The rest of the gang warped back in and tackled the Talos. Our Exequror, jumped back in to save the Cyclone and splash two. I guess you can say they avenged my Enyo loss. Hats off again to WS26, he is a fine pilot.

My heartfelt thanks go to CCP and their changes to exploration in the latest Odyssey update. This has led to many plucky souls fitting up scanning ships and heading to our part of the world to make their fortune in the relic and data sites to be found. Last night our friends in OUCH killed a scanning Cheetah a couple of jumps away and were delighted to find it full of a couple of hundred million isk worth of stuff. This pilot was clearly of the opinion that his day was done and he should head home. Without the ship he came in he loaded up his loot from earlier into a noobship and headed home. Unfortunately as he made his first jump he found myself and the Serbian Assasain Willie Horton on the other side. Shortly afterwards a Heron was spotted heading our way. The train wreck commenced and he was duly yanked from his ship and sent on his way. The loot fairies were relatively kind to us this time[. This is why I shoot tech 1 frigates in K-Q.

It was getting late and the Euro TZ was getting ready to head up the wooden hill to bedfordshire when an uncloaked Tengu with a Rapier for company was spotted in Hemin heading our way. We were mostly in frigates and dictors and we decided to engage perhaps in an effort to shrug of the feline tags some put upon us. The Tengu uncloaked and was double DD webbed and scrammed. The rest of the gang started to work on the Rapier. Taint lost his Sabre in a heroic effort to maintain point and bubble. Andy escaped with a sliver of structure in his Sabre. The Falcon was nigh on useless as the Tengu seemed impervious to his efforts. The loss was not in vain though, we got the Rapier, Tengu and both pods for well over a billion isk of damage. This is why I always try to tackle Strategic Cruisers in K-Q.

All in all a satisfying night with 3.2 billion isk dealt for the loss of a Sabre. Not bad for a Tuesday, and everybody knows nothing ever happens on a Tuesday in Curse.
