Introductory missions and faction standing gains - worth it?

I've been running missions in Caldari space lately, and while I have a pretty darn good standing there at the moment, I'm planning on moving back into Gallente space in the near future. Trouble is, my standings aren't too hot there (-1.03, with Diplomacy skills.)

I would like to start rebuilding my Gallente standing with as little grinding as possible. I read that the revamped tutorial missions give standing rewards as bonuses for completing them. Would it be worth the time and effort to do them at this point? I know I did some kind of tutorial way back when I first rolled this character, but nothing since. Should I try them out, or just start grinding the old-fashioned way?

10 tutorial missions are quicker than 16 level 1s to get a storyline. You can also do the tutorials in all 3 starter systems.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Don't bother. You can pull lvl4s as long as your faction is above -2. So your -1 is all good, just go ahead and grind up one corp out of the faction to 5 and you're good to go. Faction will go up eventually as you pull storylines on missions that's actually worth running isk wise, unlike tutorials.

I'm not too sure about that actually...according to the Agent finder, the only ones I have available to me at this point are Level 2's, and that's out of all Gallente agents. My effective standing with them is actually -2.54 - my Diplomacy skill is what kicks it up to -1. Would it still be worth it to do the L2's and grind that way til I can do 4's?

It's based on standing after diplomacy. -2 or lower means no agent access higher than lvl 1 regardless of corp standing. Higher than -2 means no restriction.

Grinding your corp from lvl 2 to lvl 4 takes far less time than grinding your faction from -1 to 5. Once you have lvl 4 to support yourself, faction standing will come in time. Beats wasting your time getting chump change on low missions all the way from -1 to 5.

Google standings repair plan. If you haven't done the data center missions for Gallente before, it will be the quickest way to get your standings up. It will cost you some isk though to buy the tag's

All the career agents plus tag combined won't get him from -1 to 5, not by a long shot. Being a lvl4 mission runner, his goal is balancing out faction standings for the long term, not a one time faction boost. This means getting access to both Caldari and Gallante lvl4s, and go back and forth once in a while. If he get faction from -1 to, say, 2.5, it'll just be wasted time and tag isk, as he will still have to grind corp from 0 to 5 for lvl4 access, not 2.5 to 5.

Heh, I disagree with you most wholeheartedly. In fact, I'm not even sure what it is you're talking about. The very first thing he should do in my honest opinion is continue training up the Social skills, especially Diplomacy and Connections, followed by Social and Negotiation.

At -1.03 Faction standing, the small increase from the Career Agents, that's 15 Gallente agents and another 15 Minmatar agents, will definitely make a huge difference in his standings, especially with Social skills trained. If he waits till the Faction standing is positive, the small increase from those Agents will definitely seem like a waste. After adding in the Circle, Data Center and Cosmos Agents, he can actually raise Gallente above +8.00 Faction standing within a few short weeks if he wanted too.. Besides that, every little bit of Faction standing increase helps.

With high Faction standing, all agents in all corps within that specific Faction can be accessed, regardless of corp standings.

That -1 cited is already after skill has been taken into account. He won't get anywhere close from -1 to 5 on career agents and tags alone. Cosmos change things, but they range from lvl1-4 and need standing for access themselves, the higher lvls are often lowsec, and can be time consuming. All in all, slower and more complicated than grinding a small sized corp for posterity. Corp standing goes up faster than faction, especially small corp.

Do the cheap dataagent thingy once. (AFAIK there are 3 agents where you only need tags for under ..20mil?)
Do some tutorials.

and then blitzt level 4 missions. If you don't got corp/agent standing for level 4 do soem quick level 2 and 3. You should be able to do level 4s after one day. With all the social skills to IV it goes really fast.

Just a quick update in case anyone's still reading:

With Connections, Social and Diplomacy at 4 and Negotiation at 3, I went ahead and ran through two of the three intro mission hubs. I was back above 0 standing after the first set, and had a positive 1.0 or so after the next set. Now it's just a matter of grinding until I can do L4's.

Thanks all for the help - was some good advice, and I appreciated it.
