Hi All,

recently re-activated my account after many years away.

I was mining when i left and have a retriever with strip miner I's etc. nothing fancy.

im in the Boyston region as i was in a corp that was based around there. I want to start some missions but im not sure on where's best for me to do missions, who i should i get the missions from. what sec i should do them in etc.

last couple of days I've just mined to get some money together.

I have an empty Omen, Coercer & punisher with no items on them.

Where should I start :D

Yes, better ask in New Citizens Q&A - returning after an extended hiatus fits the category nicely and people there are usually quite helpful and friendly.
(Whereas Posts & Threads here in General Discussion often remind me of 4chan's /b/ - to clarify, this is just a general observation and not aimed at Princess Saskia's post above)

Don't tell him that, he will open a duplicate thread and the best one will get locked! =-P The ISD's can move it if they want.

In the mean time, welcome back Beardom. Eve is still a horrible dark place, there's plenty of gankers out and about happily willing to blow up your barge with their destroyers. Tank up, mine in .8+ at least 5 jumps from a major trade hub and you should be fine. Or lowsec, gankers dont go there and there's some systems that are empty most of the time, you just have to dock up or hide whenever anyone enters system.

I Pick a region and stick to it, its nice because you can take faction kill missions which are better isk imho. Sounds like you should start with level 2's to get standing for level 3's. 2 is cruiser, a well fit cruiser can do some 3's but most are better run in a BC, there's a couple that are very difficult even in a BC.

OP, I'll give you money if you stop mining, promise me to not mine and not train mining skills again, and fit some cheap ships and go shoot at random people in lowsec.

As no one has yet to answer the actual OP, i'll try my best:

Start with L1s + Punisher. Coercer is very nice, but is pretty slow and a Punisher is much faster to zip around in mission pockets.

Start with Amarr missions first, as your lasers will be dealing the best damage type there. Within a week of doing L1s you should have remembered pretty much everything about missioning and could move on to L2s. After that you could start looking at L3s + an Amarr BC. As you currently have gun boats, you should probably continue on into a Harbinger.
When you are comfortable with L3s, get yourself a Noctis, start salvaging the better missions, sell the salvage and crap modules, keep the better ones and go build PvP frigates with the modules / ISK you acquired through missions. Then you can get some adrenaline, burn through a couple of those frigs and continue.

If frigates aren't enough, you could then move towards a BS for L4s where huge ISK to fund BC PvP lies. But with the upcoming BS changes I really can't comment on which one you should get...

Another option if you are in an active corp / alliance is incursion running. I love doing vanguard sites in a 10 cruiser fleet with 2-3 BCs to soak up damage (so logi can manage reps more easily). A coordinated fleet can run a site every 20min, from each of which you earn ~10M ISK and some LP. Oh, and it is huge fun, but with cruiser fleets go for shield RR, as armor RR might land too late to save your ass from Sansha wrath!

Lastly, if you really like mining, you could go for Ice Mining. With the upcoming changes some Ice blocks nearly doubled in price and you could be making ~7M/h semi-afk, but DAMN is it boring (hint: don't do it if you want to actually play the game).
