I had 2 Sarum Magnates in my hangar, decided I want them removed from there, so I can get a noob ship when I run out of ships. But I did not want to sell them, so I created a contract for both, for 1 billion isk, to remove them.

Then - I saw I just lost 16 million isk for some contract fees...

Always read the contract summary page before clicking finish, helps avoid silly mistakes like setting too high or too low a price, the deposit, sales tax and broker fees are shown there.

uhm...Am I the only one here that sees the error in this.

He either:

Set them up as a sell ORDER

or he made a CONTRACT

The problem is that contracts cost 10.000 ISK. Period.

So likely the first.

EDIT:

As for why you but them on sell order...EVE is has too many stations to even count, why do you want to stick to 1 station when you could have just moved to another for a free noob ship.

....No, they don't.

Private contracts do. Public item exchange, auction, and courier contracts all have additional fees. Item exchanges have a broker fee (variable based on price and contract duration), sales tax (only collected if sold), and deposit (refunded if sold).

In this case, he made a 2-week long public item exchange contract asking for 1 billion isk, which should cost around 16.5 million for deposit and broker fees.

Wow...learned something.

I only use private contracts as it's easier and most stuff can easily be shifted through market transactions.
