And by far and large that is the best animation I've seen on this game to date, well done CCP!!!!

Isn't it cool? The destruction -> death process is definitely more informative and cinematic now.

idk what people are talking about, all I see is fade to white and then I'm in a station

You should be seeing something like this. If you aren't seeing these transitions, then you should file a bug report.

i like it its quite cool. However the dead body -> new clone transition should be something like they did in the scene as Spock punched khaan in the face which made Kirk wake up in the hospital ;)

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

It was good up until the point where a med-clone/station scene activation was expected.

It's really tempting to derail this into a discussion regarding total clone costs, ... But otherwise, it's great animation.

More animations please! ^_^

I'm glad you guys like it Smile
We still have to iron out some issues with it and do so polish work.

Do you perhaps always press some key on your keyboard as you are about to die? The corpse should be floating in space for 10 seconds, but you can exit the scene by hitting any key on your keyboard.

We are still not sure if we are going to keep all the ships in the "corpse scene" since the focus is on the corpse and you can hardly see the ships anyway. What would you think of just having the nebula, planets and stations there when you are floating in space?

Would it be possible to see your corpse floating as the battle continues to rage around your corpse (i.e. don't unload the grid where you got podded)?

Overall great job, very creepy, makes it very obvious something terrible just happened Smile

No, not really... and we also don't want to allow you to just stay on grid and spy after you are dead Smile

id like my clone to be equipped with a power suit so he can jetpack around and pew pew after pod gets blown up.

OK, I have to point this.... How come the camera drone keeps sending information to the pilot? and how come we can see our own dead boddy, if we are dead? it is something really akward...

In the captains quarters, lets assume that there is also a camera drone, as a tird eye, so we can see ourselves. So, out of the Pod in space, we could keep seeing ourselves... untill we die or get unconscius....

Also, acording to facts and some experiments, humans can survive about 90 seconds in the space.... (A man had already survived a failure in an astronaut suit failure test, getting unconscious in 15 seconds...)

See this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YZw0apTNjZI

So, how about putting a little moviment in the pilot before it becomes biomass? Somethink like holding the troat, sufocating, and burning as the sun radiation fries him... and with a little shake of the camera to dramatize....

I really liked what you guys did to the neocom over there!!!! Although it would be interesting to see it shatter.... and if you make the zoom to the boddy slower, it would dramatize more the situation.... and dont wory... give the player some time to understand what has happened... put the boody and the killer in the same frame.... and then slowly fade... after all... it is death...

You could also put a rebirth scene... but I think it would be too much.... Cool

Nooooo. If there's a battle raging around my charred, frozen corpse, I want to see it for a few seconds. Way better than "suddenly all the fighting stopped once I was dead...?" If you're going for a immersion factor, keep the ships there.

Edit: Also this does look cool as it bridges a previously (imo anyways) disassociated gap between death and waking up in a clone. You're not entirely there yet, CCP, but this is definitely a great step towards it. Endgame: think actually waking up in a tube with the vat fluid just finishing up draining and stepping out into your captain's quarters or something like that.

Not sure I get this, since you said there is a 10 second timer before you load station anyway. Would be more immersive if it just zoomed in on the corpse in space for a few seconds and you were still loaded on the grid before going back to the station automatically.

Well, as soon as you are podded, you are actually moved from the grid to the station and if we want to mess with that, a whole lot of work needs to be put into changing that. Not saying it's not possible, just requires a lot of work and time.

Our pod death scene now is just a snapshot of the scene you died in. It's not updated, since you have lost all connection to the grid, but we feel it achieves the goal of showing you that you just died Smile

Hrmm... Getting real pipe-dreamy here...

But I think it would be cool to have an interactive UI element to getting podded. In amongst the system failure warnings and error messages, would be a couple of buttons (which look more like the captain's quarters ui than the neocom ui) that you could click during the death scene to pre-purchase your next clone and to select which ship you'd like to spawn in.

This turns the longer clone death animation into an extremely useful piece of eye-candy, by reducing the overall amount of time it takes redeploy after getting podded (ie use the full time to go from death to undock as your performance metric).

Last but not least, instead of a "click any button to skip" type message, there should be a clickable suicide/terminate button instead. Keeps it in-character, and really sells the idea that your consciousness is indeed disembodied from the clone that merely carries it.

I self-destructed my pod and saw the red writing at the bottom of the screen, but was I supposed to see my corpse or something? All I saw was the void of space, wasn't sure if that was intended or not.

For extra butter and cream, make the character wake up from the couch or bed in the CC's, you know like he was brought out of stasis and laid down there by someone or something...

I mean aren't you supposed to be a little disoriented after waking up from death in a new body ?

You know what would be even cooler? If the body you saw in space was based on your characters body instead of just a generic charred piece of meat.

Yes, you are supposed to see your frozen corpe in that scene.
Could you try it again, and if it doesn't work, file a bugreport from within the client... I'm wondering if it has anything to do with graphics settings or something like that.
Thanks Smile

This doesn't achieve the goal of immersion to me at all. Yeah it's kind of cool to see my corpse floating out in space, but it would be much more immersiive to have some sort of confused zoom through a channel of data and consciousness, then a static-y initialization of a new camera zooming out from your pod in the dock.
