I think you might be confusing Australia with Canada. We are basically the USA, with nicer beaches and less idiots (although we have our fair share of them). However everything you get, we get a week later, and that makes me sad.

No. It's not a rumor. It's a possibility. Remote, but still a possibility. Perhaps under W.A.I.L. (World Association of Internet Law) regulations it might constitute a rumor, but I'm not sure.
