As most will be aware CCP Games have advertised for players to post stories of their experiences as part of a 10 year anniversary. While I may have missed the boat I did realise that many stories remain untold and while I am not out for glory nor recognition, I do feel that my story deserves to be told. Many corporations and alliances have helped shape the universe of which we play in and each and every one of those had a role to play. My story relates to the little known and somewhat forgotten alliance called ]V[aelstrom alliance, an alliance that once had humble beginnings floating amongst the stars with big dreams, became pets and eventually fulfilled the dreams, until its eventual demise. The fate of the alliance and of my own had become intertwined many years back, on a Saturday night…..

My first encounters with null sec space was a rather positive one. I travelled to KBP7-G after some planning, in an ibis to minimise costs in the likely hood of my untimely destruction. As soon as I entered KBP I began to lag out and realised I was surely doomed, but this was actually not the case. A poorly organised gate camp resulted in many frustrated ]v[aelstrom members staring as my Ibis began to enter warp away from the Dital gate. I quickly found the member in system best to talk to about my safe return to high security space and this conversation resulted in me, not a week later becoming a member of his corporation and alliance, Andrew Gunn. At this early point of time for me, null security was a daunting proposition and extreme care was taken when negotiating routes as you would expect. My first journey was initially delayed but resulted in me eventually seeing my first Outpost, which belonged to the ISS alliance, an alliance whom back then had many such Outposts darted all over new Eden. After much travelling and extremely nervous trips to the bathroom I made it to ]V[aelstrom’s rented territory deep in Omist, under the scrutiny of the notorious war mongering alliance Lotka Volterra (LV).

After a short period of time I grew to fear Red Alliance, another warring alliance that was directly engaged with LV, including several small raids hosted by one of two of RA’s members on solo ISK makers, I lost my only source of income due to one of these members, which set me back many days if not weeks of making ISK. I eventually became involved in the siege of C-J (or the system that RA called their home and affectionately labelled the RA fortress by some), the outcome of the battle was miserable. But not directly important to ]V[aelstrom’s story.

It did not take long before Lotka Volterra’s membership to begin complaining about ]V[aelstrom alliance, as we were its biggest pet in numbers and this meant the demand for ISK making space increased forcing LV’s own members to go further and further away, LV leadership was not having it and the order was given for us to move. While being told that –V- (Veritas Immoritalis) could do with help and we were to go there, we did so but not at the desire of –V- who quickly made orders for our rapid exit from their space or they will tear our POS’s down. It would seem we were no longer welcome by our allies, in spite of assisting our allies on countless occasions in their times of need, however with that set back over the horizon eventually events unfolded that were in our favour.

Our true home

An alliance in Immesea was beginning to fold and with it the news was given that ]V[aelstrom would become its new owner, specifically the system called I-NG and the four or five systems adjacent to it. After many weeks of being a scout for our freighters carrying cargo I knew nothing about, the word was given that an outpost was to be established, this outpost was to be ]V[aelstrom alliances crowning achievement and it was a great experience to personally have been a part of. Five am I woke up to help in staging a complete lockdown of the I-NG station and shortly before downtime the station was deployed. By the time I got back we basked in the glory of our accomplishments and gave our new home its title “]V[aelstrom Prime”, for the first time our alliance had a true home, that was not being over sought by some bigger alliance and the feeling was great, we were our own masters. But like all good things, they come to an end

The siege of I-NG and ]V[aelstrom’s final defence
It all started with a war dec, by the most famous mercenary alliance, MC. The war dec lasted a while and claimed many victims, including myself. It was then followed at a later date one night with GoonSwarm entering in the system and testing the waters, several weeks later a larger force of players arrived, consisting of Goons, Tau Ceti Federation(TCF) and a mish mash of other alliances. The siege lasted roughly one week, with a local channel in excess of one thousand two hundred players. Fighting was hard for both sides, as our alliance desperately defended everything it could, with Lotka Volterra and even Mercenary Coalition eventually lending a hand. We fought tooth and nail to retain our space, but it was not to be. At the time the siege was big news, many alliances watched the outcome and many alliances had praised the valiant efforts of ]V[aelstrom and a corporation called the Madhatters Inc. for standing and fighting. We earned the respect of many and in turn they earned the respect of us. But as we were now displaced we went in the direction of Fountain and it was there that the alliance eventually died. Throughout our time in I-NG Madhatters Inc had been a faithful corporation renting some space. It later had become a home to many of the members that had founded ]V[aelstrom and later had become a founding members of the Initiative, alongside DOANE, VANIS, STK. Which somewhat ironically had conquered and lost I-NG at later times, including the campaign against –A- (Against All Authority).

warning some info may have been wrong, it has been a while a long while (like 8 years ago)
