I got the launcher patch this morning and now nothing is working when i try to log in sissi :

Starting eve do nothing by double clicking on launcher's shortcut as I do usually : no splash, nothing appear, no process running.
I've tried to go by bin/ Exefile.exe but it go to the launcher patch too and same result at the end of download launcher update.

My os : win 7 x64.

For Devs, if it can help, link for launcher.2013.05.18.log :

http://pastebin.com/JrR7DsBZ

Ok i've fixed it by this way :

I had to go in .../launcher/cache and then running manually updater.exe (update was download but not applied ?) .

Your log corroborates your conclusion. What's strange is that it was attempting to start the downloaded update; are there any stalled processes on your computer ie, hung updater.exe processes.

Another error I have come across is that the launcher fails to exit properly. It still leaves two(!) instances of launcher.exe running.

Patching launcher hangs.

http://pastebin.com/ujSxzbtd

Tried the solution from the first post - does not work for me. Looks like some encoding problems

Sound not the same bug than me, after your self update you got a self installation (which i didn't get) and during this self installation you get errors :

You prolly got same errors and so same result but running manually updater.exe. vOv

The Unicode erros in that log are weird as there is no obvious unicode involved in your paths. However, I spotted this:

Quote:

2013-05-18 18:45:45,119 - root - initialization - INFO - Running from u'C:\\EVE'
2013-05-18 18:45:45,121 - root - initialization - INFO - Working directory u'D:\\EVE\\launcher'

Are you running the launcher from a shortcut that might have an invalid working directory specified? And if so, can you see if fixing it to the correct location (presumably c:\EVE\launcher) makes the issues disappear?

Indeed, the logs indicate that the processes are hanging somewhere in their shutdown routine. We'll look into it.

I had do delete the folder and make a new copy of singularity launch the game wait for the update files then go into the /launcher/cache folder and do the manual update an that finally got the launcher to work

If you don't follow the rules, neither will I.

Checked the working directory. Fixed it. The error is in another castle.

I've been using this shortcut for a year and there were no problem with it.

I have to ask where is the default patch unpack directory? As there may be some cyrillic symbols in %AppData% i.e.

Had similar problem, the solution for me was simply install again the launcher.

Actually the whole process of launching the:
\launcher\launcher.exe
which then calls the
\launcher\appdata\EVE_Online_Launcher-2.1.537851-beta.3.win32\launcher.exe --esky-slave-proc C:\Users\XXXXXX\AppData\Local\Temp\esky-slave-procs\slave-2216.0.txt /server:87.237.38.50

Is just silly. Why is this needed this nested stuff, it just brokes the whole launcher. In the current setup expect lot's of trouble when it will hit TQ.
Not to mention that the launcher puts 3 directory to the TEMP directory every time it's started. (scoped_dir000randomnumber)

The launcher should work just fine with Cyrillic symbols so this is a defect on our end. We're looking into it.

I've managed to fix this by unpacking launcher manually from the archive http://content.eveonline.com/EveOnlineLauncher/beta/EVE_Online_Launcher-2.1.537851-beta.3.win32.zip

As expected. However, we are currently looking into the issue with non-ASCII based windows usernames. It seems like the 3rd party module which we are using for the self-update mechanism does something weird under certain circumstances, but we are working on a fix for this.

HI,

Don't know if it helps but i found something that could be wrong.

Windows only !

If you have SISI Client in the directory with spaces it doesn't even start the launcher.

Normally if you copy and paste eve TQ client it copies into EVE - Copy folder or similar depends on the Windows OS.
If you rename the directory to something like EVETest (without space, whitespaces) the launcher starts.

After clearing/renaming the directory of white spaces the SIS launcher/client is working.

Have fun

My singularity client lives in c:\program files (x86)\ccp\eve (sisi)\ and starts up just fine, do you happen to have logfiles for your problem? The logfile can be found in the launcher\cache folder inside the installation path. Thanks.

I had SISI Client on this path:
D:\Gizmo\Games\EVE - Copy
Shortcut on my desktop : "D:\Gizmo\Games\EVE - Copy\eve.exe" /server:Singularity

When i clicked on the shortcut nothing did happen not even open a launcher or any process was running in task manager.
I tried running from command prompt even directly thrue old launcher_console.exe ... nothing did work...

I changed the directory to:
D:\Gizmo\Games\EVETest
The game launcher started, patched the client from TQ->Sing , and the client is working.

Did check the logfile but i did clear the cache so inside is only the new directory path ...

Well if you need the logfile i can copy game again, and send you the logfile.

I had the same issue, it appears that the new launcher has issues with space characters in the path. If you rename the spaces with underscores (" " to "_") it launches without issue.
