Just curious as to the pros and cons of this...

Assume isk and ships aren't a factor, and it would most likely be amarr or caldari faction. Thanks all.

1. Are you comfortable soloing and don't care for company?

If yes, stay in NPC.

2. Are you good at corp management and recruiting and willing to take your lumps as a Corp CEO?

If yes, go start your own.

3. Do you prefer company? Do you want to be able to log in and fly with other people without asking for general militia fleets in militia chat?

If yes, go join one.

Interaction with the rest of militia is generally better if you're in a player corp in the militia rather than in an NPC corp. There's a pretty stiff stigma associated with Federal Defense Union players and I assume the same thought runs around Amarr and Caldari militias.

If you are a pure solo pilot, then just join the NPC FW corp. Otherwise I would suggest you join an existing player corp. You shouldn't start your own corp unless:

1. You have a core group of at least 4-6 die-hard eve players.
2. You have an IT team to run a website(forums/wiki/killboard/jabber/etc), voice comms, etc
3. You have somebody with a PhD in CCP's ****** "corporation tab" system (ie security roles)
4. You have a fleet of jump freighters to supply your corp
5. You have at least 2 good FCs (or 1 unemployed one who plays Eve all day)
6. You have an outgoing recruiter that will scan the recruitment forums all day
7. You have a small carebear team (also with IT ability) to set up a corporation store and/or create corp contracts in your home system for fully fit ships

You do not need those for FW.

I laughed when I read the "IT Team" thing.

Federal Defense Union is supreme. No other corporation can beat its efficiency and ability to pull pin-point maneuvers. As supreme lord master leader of the Federal Defense Union, I promise you that your isk will be promptly doubled upon being received for your application fee.

You can trust me, I'm Gallente.
