I have a problem when I try and quickly navigate menus, sometimes I'll try and move my mouse directly towards a sub-menu item and in the process manage to close the menu I was aiming for.

Lots of places are recognising this as a user experience problem, and are solving it with basic path prediction.

Imagine an invisible triangle between where your mouse cursor currently is, and the upper and lower bounds of the sub-menu you just opened. If you move your mouse within the triangle the menu stays open and if you leave the triangle you can close the menu.

Amazon uses this to improve navigation on their site. There's a breakdown here: http://bjk5.com/post/44698559168/breaking-down-amazons-mega-dropdown

quick, easy, makes life easier, no reason not to implement it

+1, this causes me problems in places outside of EVE, too. Always loved proper navigation.

Save the drones!

Came in expecting something about orbiting. Not sure why.

This is a good idea. If it can be implemented, it should be. It's certainly something I've had a little bit of issue with myself.

Edited the subject to make it specific to mouse path prediction :)
