So last night a few of us were in our WH messing around when we noticed a new Sig. So we warp over and check it out while doing this I see a couple of Buzzards headed in system on our hole.

We were low on people and only had some bombers so we took them out to the WH and waited. One of the Buzzards started trying to bait us so we figured why not and start launching torps. The Loki and the Proteus pops out but we were around 70k so we just kept hammer the buzzard which popped through the hole. Then we switched over to the loki till it popped through the hole.

At this point we were sort of over matched but figure we would keep messing around. I went and checked out the other hole it was a C3 with HS static I hunted down the tower checked the corp it was different guys we were playing with. So I checked their info looks like a large HS corp with most of their kills in Jita/Perimeter etc. while headed back to our hole I saw several more Proteus’s and a legion headed towards us.

At this point it was down to just myself and a friend so I picked the buzzard pilot sent him a priv conv said something like “hey thanks for the excitement good luck, but got to log.”

So my question is I know lots of people look down on people that bubble up don’t try and fight etc… We were willing but honestly 2 -3 Proteus, Loki, Legion several cov-ops against 3 bombers just seemed like a waste. We all have jobs so we called it a night and crashed. Just curious if we should have done something else ?

I know I will get all sorts of sarcastic answers but honestly we are trying to learn to pvp but while we have been in a WH for a long time our friends who started us on this game were total carebears :P

Thanks for all honest suggestion’s heck I was not sure what type of ships would even be good against that figuring we had 3 on wasting T3s would be worthless but is there something that would at least allow us to sting them more then little bombers ?

They had no HIC, nor multipliers. Reship to 3 x high dps cruisers/battlecruisers, warp at range, draw them off the WH & fight!

Worst case: you lose 3 cheap ships & have fun

Expected case: you lose 3 cheap ships & kill one ridiculously expensive ship & have fun. Warp your pods safely off and laugh about how you exchanged 3 cheap ships for 1 very expensive one + SP loss.

Best case: they are scrubs & all or most of those t3s are covops fit, their dps is pathetic, you kill 2+ of them, die & have fun.

Edit: even more likely case, they'll slink away tail between legs & say stuff in local about "obvious tarps"

There's a definitive line between a good fight and suicide.

Don't let anyone talk trash for avoiding the latter.

Its the people who are in wormhole space purely for bearing and dodge out of fights time after time when they have enough people online that get looked down on,

This is how I've felt. Being a small corp, more often than not we roll into either a stupid easy gank or something too big to handle. I'm often roaming solo if corpies aren't online.

I'll happily throw a ship into the fire if I think I can at least take someone down with me. But I'm not much for completely suiciding my ship for no good reason.

WH fights can also be tough because while you may see X number of ships, you have no idea what else is cloaked in the system. I've fallen for traps (I am bad at PVP) where it seemed like a potentially good fight, only to see the HIC and remaining fleet on dscan 15 sec later.

Yep thanks, I definitely would have tried more but we literally had nothing in system aside from the bombers to go out in. we had a couple of pure pve tengus but I am not feeding those to a sacrifice :)

What would some of you recommend as decent ships that we could use that we wont cry about later ;) and that has a chance...

we have flown some Harbs, Canes and Myrms before and I even had an oracle fit for a while just curious what would be decent ships since we are smaller and honestly probably going to lose quite a few while we learn...

anyway suggestions would be great!

PS not looking for FIT handouts I have no problem searching through killboards and eft to try and get a decent fit just looking for a suggestion on actual hulls I know most of the time its base on situation but consider small WH corp trying to at least take someone with them...

thanks again.

Major props for bringing the bombers out. Most people would not even done that much. I want to pvp like the rest but I don't expect you to just through away isk because someone else says you are supposed to. Given your numbers, you did just about all you could. The idea of using cheap ships to kill expensive ships (even if you die) isn't a bad strategy either. Props for at least trying.

(btw, I was 'nearby' on another account. We thought maybe you guys might escalate the fight after you jumped into the bombers!!)

Thanks! and yea we really want to get where we could at least try I have no issue with losing ships we just did not have anything decent to put out there and we figure you guys got a laugh out of a SB shooting the Loki.. we are going to bring some BCs and HACs in so we could at least put a dent out there.

anyway it made the night way more fun then if we had just run anoms!

Also no one said anything about us not coming out I just felt guilty for not putting better ships on grid ;) this was all self guilt there was no smack talk!

Being said Buzzard pilot, yes I was baiting you. I didn't have cap boosters for my ASB, or I more than likely would have likely destroyed at least one of your bombers. Good rule of thumb: Bomber vs Frigate, almost always a bad decision!

Yes, our fleet greatly outnumbered you, while over 50% of us decided "Three bombers? Not worth the effort" and remained up the chain. It was smart of you to disengage.

As for what you could have brought, literally anything besides a bomber. Warping in a tornado, naga, or oracle at range to the hole with sensor boosters would have won you the field. However, any engagement after that might have costed you ships.

Bringing a fight is better than not bringing a fight in w-space. If you expect to wellp horribly but still want to fight be sure to bring insured T1 ships, it's the single best cost-effective way to learn PVP.

Also follow the general rule of 7 in wormhole space. If you see 1 uncloaked ship you can expect 7 cloaked or hidden behind him. As such I think we showed 3 or 4 total? We had 26.

Nobody will bash you for fighting above your weight class. AND DEFINITELY only giant a-holes will give you crap for not engaging with 3 stealth bombers vs. a tech 3 fleet. It's not your fault if you can't fly/can't afford T3 yet. If they can't line up the kill that's their problem. Don't "feel bad" because you can't fight when you are horribly out-numbered.

Basically, if you have a Death Star tower, and you fight regularly against something you can be expected to fight against, nobody will ever bother you. Most of the time when people over-reveal their hand (like the other day we tried to bait a drake but we decloaked our whole fleet by accident) it's just "derp oh well, who would realistically fight us now?"

The truth of the matter is that most of us are in WH space because we DON'T want to structure bash, and we don't like blobs. So nobody is going to expect you to do more than you are capable of unless they're an idiot or a jerk.

Missed part of your original question: use logistics, falcons and Tier 3 battlecruisers (Talos is great). None are super difficult or expensive to get into.

+ 2 hictors cuz I like pods <- the guy who generates the peremiter kills on his 3rd and 4th screens while waiting for dreads + large t3 fleets to to show up to buttXin wh space...

You never heard the age old "Those who fight and run away, live to fight another day"?

Tactical retreats are valid manoeuvres, and most losses in WH-Space are from people who didn't get to choose what they fought against. i.e. the aggressing party had the upper hand from first contact.

The fact remains that you did engage, and the more you engage the more confident you will become in what you can and cannot get away with. Those guys probably called you faggots on comms and beat their chests, but at the end of the day you didn't have the force to counter them with, and you didn't lose anything by feeling compelled to fight.

I see no harm done here.

No. We were impressed by their can-do attitude! But that sort of reaction is fairly par for the course for other eve communities.

I've said some pretty nasty things before just to get people to commit to a one-sided fight, or to ship up to shinies, but it's just psych warfare, only reason is to get a reaction out of them for some kills. I'm not actually shocked nor offended if they don't fall for it, and in your case, where neither side is being petty and you guys at least tested the waters, you seem like you did everything admirably.

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

Yep no one said anything and it was just a little reminder that you are never alone in WH space :)

we actually look forward to those as it can be easy to get complacent and honestly the one thing we love about Eve is when we log on thinking "lets run some sites" we never actually know how its going to turn out!!
