Due to start-up issues, downtime on May 17th is extended until 12:30 UTC.

We apologize for the inconvenience this causes.

Further updates to the situation will be posted here.

UPDATE 11:45 UTC: A further downtime extension until 12:00 UTC is needed while we sort out these difficulties. We apologize once again for the inconvenience.

UPDATE 12:00 UTC: It seems that Iceland's advancement into the Eurovision grand finals has put the cluster into an absolutely unmanageable state. While we try to get the hamsters into line, we must extend downtime by a further 30 minutes. Our sincerest apologies for this situation, we want this to go smooth as much as you guys.

You finally admit that PETA hates us all because of the amount of real hamsters killed per day is astounding.

It isn't clear what is wrong and I myself can't explain it as it is way out of my area of expertise. Those that could explain it are too busy trying to fix it.

I'll wrangle up a summary once these issues are over.

The servers are run by hamsters, and the hamsters are hydrated by tears... They need the tears...

Usually we have TQ restarting and being up withing say 10 minutes, but fairly regularly it seems to either get stuck in a loop where the startup timer continuously resets, or like today just goes back down again after timer expired. I am curious whats going on here? Is this a persistent difficult problem you cant get your head around, or is incidents where the cluster acts up after a new patch, or.... ?

If memory serves, that looping countdown timer you see is actually our limited clients not understanding what the cluster is doing during its start-up routines. My google fu is failing me, but the question has come up before on eve-o forums and a dev type a couple of years ago explained it in better detail.

I think the clients will either ask for or receive a "starting up" notification, which comes in with the estimated startup time remaining from the server (30secs, 15secs etc) and then the client simply count down to it at which point it will query the cluster for a "are you alive?" and if yes - it will display current players and the Tranq server status. If it doesn't receive any reasonable response then it makes sense it will just rerun the last 5 seconds as network latency at either your end or CCPs to 'retry' that "are you alive?" request.

1. Have you tried moving the hamsters into different wheels?

2. Have you checked if the cleaning lady has unplugged the server node for the hover?

3. Have you accidentally plugged the dust server back in?
