Question about buying the game on Steam

Hey, I'm getting some friends into the game and they're currently on extended trials linked to my account. I was wondering if I still get the PLEX once they register the code from the Steam purchase or if they have to buy a month(or more!) This is fairly important as I want to cash in the PLEX for ISK and use it to help fund them along their way.
