My 2nd day after 2 year break so bear with me.

Was reading about cloaking. Then some about widow(dont know about other cov ops ship). Was trying to brainstorm some tactics using the cloak in combat.

I know most ships cant lock after using cloak. And they move slower. What i dont know is if enemy can see where im going or if im completely invisible.

So was thinking about widow sniper. Orbits enemy at extreme range. Using jamming to keep enemy from locking until cloak is ready. And firing sniping shots. At all feasable or worth it?

Are there any other tactics u guys can think of using cloak?

Asking more or less the same questions all over the forum is definitely not done. Please stick to one thread.

cloaking renders you compleatly invisible, the only way they even know your in system is because you apear in the local chanel. only stealth bombers, covert haulers, covert ops frigates, recon cruisers, and certain t3 cruiser fits can fit a covert ops cloak which alows you to warp around while cloaking. you cant cloak while somone has a lock on you, and once you cloak no more modules may be activated, any modules that are on will finish their cycle and deactivate.

a widdow is a black ops bs and they are not not known for being the best of combat vessels, they are intendted to sneak fleets of other covert ops vessels around and possibly provide fire support once the fleet gets there. they are rather expensive and die very quickly to ships much cheaper then they are so sorry to break it to you but your plan will likly not work.

There are 2 types of cloaks one that can warp cloaked an one that can't what exactly are you looking for the widow is one that Can't and for its uses is not usually used for combat, it can but not alone.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post

Posting in a locked thread :D

For content :

Idea has some merit but many pitfalls. Black-Ops battleships travel faster when cloaked than when decloaked, assuming you have near max skills for it, which you should to even consider a black ops especially for PvP. Black ops battleships tend to be pretty substandard in actual combat and are more often used for their covert jump drive, allowing other covert vessels like stealth bombers to jump with them over many systems.

Also, since you will be fighting at ranges of well over 100km it makes not a damn bit of difference if you ECM and cloak since you could also simply warp away (being well outside scram range).

Advice : Buy a Black Ops for fun but don't expect to do much of any solo pvp in it at this stage. I own a couple and have had great fun with them pulling all sorts of shinanigans. For PvP get a long range raven or similar rail using battleship and use same tactic you discribed, replacing cloak with "warp casually away". That said i really think you should get a smaller ship for PvP unless you're experienced in BS PvP already.
